Default No queens for a few decades after Elizabeth

So there will be no queens for a few decades after Elizabeth II goes.

Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne for sixty-one years. I think they're due for at least a couple of guys, let alone the new Prince of Cambridge.

Do we need royalty anymore? I don't think the british tabloids would be out of a job if they weren't around.

I'm sure there's some reason why the world still has them. I just never bothered to think too deeply about it.

Flipping through channels, I stopped on Headline News. The show was Now in America. Yeah, you can guess what they were talking about. Apparently the show title is misnomer.

Great news! Congratulations Wiliam and Kate!
I opened a bottle of Moet tonight to celebrate.
May our wonderful monarchy continue to serve our great nation for centuries to come.
Again congratulations!

I actually quite like the royal family, I don't go for all of the hype but they are one of the last few remaining things that make me feel British.

This whole monarchy thing with United Kingdom is confusing. So where do the royalty of the United Kingdom fit in the government?

Hmm that guy abdicated and his brother didn't last too long... Queen Elizabeth II was a very young queen in terms of modern times... if the interwebz existed back then there would have been all kinds of royal fantasy fapping... She's also benefiting from being a proper woman with modern health care and diet practices...a rather strong woman actually hope she's still alive and Queen for the next 20 years

Because theres a bunch of Americans who are regretting not being part of the Brittish monarchy... they claim tea party this, tea party bags that... but they really want to be common peasants kneeling to the Queen and someday being dubbed a Dame... or a Duchess or a Princess. just kidding and many have been raised on too many Princess stories but then they realize they can never be princesses...

Of course thats not gonna stop a bunch of gays from wanting to be Queens

It fits into the countries historic identity and national pride... that they have been stable enough for so long as opposed to other countries that haven't

Officially they don't really, unlike the old days but they still have some slight influence with certain events. It's more for show really when government requires royal approval.

I ask you this though, apart from wanting to visit this place based on past and current royal heritage, including the castles etc and everything that has been enabled by the system of monarchy, what other reasons do you truly have to want to visit here?

Man talk about having it made in the shade. Kid will lack for nothing then become a King and lack for nothing.

Sounds like good work if you can get it.

“In another part of Chicago stood the Institute for Nuclear Research, in which men may have had theories upon the essential worth of human nature but were half ashamed of them, since no quantitative instrument had yet been designed to measure it. When they thought about it, it was often enough to wish that some stroke from heaven would prevent human nature (and damned human ingenuity) from turning every innocent and interesting discovery into a deadly weapon.”
