![]() hey guys, question for the ati folks. I rma'd a 9800pro retail (128MB, etc...) and I just got an email back from them that the replacement has shipped and will arrive tomorrow. The problem is that the card they are sending is: R360 128MB BGA V-VO-DI SE-(338M/378E) I read that to be an R360 core, with BGA memory?, vivo i think... and se which means its 128 bit. So I send in a retail 9800pro 256bit and they send back a 128bit 9800 all in wonder or whatever its called? Can anybody provide a telephone number should my interpretation come to be true tomorrow? |

![]() That's probably the 9800 Pro's with R360 core like the 9800xt's but only has 128MB of vram but it's still a 256bit card.

Why don't you calm down and when the card gets to your house, install it and check what they sent you. (Everest Home will give you all the numbers) I would be happy to get a R360 core instead of a R350 core if I were you. I'm 99.999% sure there were no 9800's with the R360 core produced with a 128bit memory path. Like henesseynalert said, they probably sent you a 128MB 9800XT. If it is a 9800XT you can clock it @ 412/365 instead of 380/340 like the original 9800 Pro. ![]() -EDIT I did some checking around the NET and the 9800 Pro cards that were produced at the end of the production cycle were made with a R360 GPU but the same memory that was on the original 9800 Pro. Some vendors like Gecube were calling them 9800 Pro Platinum cards. Any way you slice it you are getting back a better card than you sent them.

![]() I don't think they can force you to take a AIW card as a replacement for your non-AIW 9800 Pro but I'm not sure. Their policy is to replace your card with an equal or "better" card. Since the AIW is considered a "better card you might have to settle for that. You could always eBay it since it will be new in the box and buy a NEW ATI X850 Pro off their clearance page for $139 http://shop.ati.com/searchresults.asp?dept_id=39 ![]()

![]() I'm willing to bet it's a better card. I'm not saying nobody has ever made a mistake, but usually if a manufacturer is replacing your defective part. They want to make sure you get the best possible service and remain a faithful customer. |

![]() It came, a regular 9800pro standard r350 core. W/e they did their end of the service. I think it must have been a mistake with the vivo and the SE or whatever in the email. case closed. |
