Microsoft To Start Discussing DirectX 11 Soon?

This time frame sounds reasonable with MS indicating that Windows 7 would be targeted for release in late 2009 or early 2010.

Quoting anonymous sources, Fudzilla says Microsoft officially announce DirectX 11 at the Gamefest 2008 event, which will take place in Seattle from July 22 to July 23. Interested parties can sign up for the event through the official website for a hefty $550 (or $650 for registrations after July 18). Those who miss the event might be able to catch up at the Nvision conference in late August, where Nvidia will supposedly discuss DirectX 11, as well.

Fudzilla says DirectX 11's bag of tricks will include features like tessellation/displacement, multi-threaded rendering, and compute shaders. The site adds that the new API may not have support for real-time ray tracing.

directx11 better be compatible with Vista. If its not I am not going to buy a new operating system hence I will not care about dx11.

I don't see the point of them considering DirectX 11. They should put those MS developers into more important development projects, such as the Windows Kernal or maybe even the GUI.. anything.

There isn't even a pure 100% DirectX 10 game out yet to my knowledge and DX10 has been out for how long now, year and half or more?

The only reason I could see them going for DX11 is if they come out and say ok we screwed up DX10 actually has no advantages over DX9.

DX11 is over 6x faster than DX10 you'll see great improvements, your games will run 6x faster look 6x better, and mid range vid card will be a beast and and and.... ohh wait replace 11 with 10 and 10 with 9 and you get the same story.

Buy buy buy buy windows 7 to use DX11, Halo48 is DX11 and windows 7 exclusive.. those 3 coloured games you want it you want it you want it....

Too much hurrying as it is seen everywhere as of lately... and no time to catch up at all. I can not humanly catch up with all the crazy stuff they are spewing out lately. Or maybe I am just getting old ...
