Crossfire 2GB + 1GB 5850

As the title says. Has anyone got this combo?

Reason I'm asking is that I have some stuff for sell and I can pick up a 1 GB 5850 for £50.
The Toxic 2GB still sells for £170+
So I'd rather save £120 and lose 1GB ram.

Can I assume that in game I can choose the Toxic instead of crossfire??

Yes, you can crossfire the two but the 1GB card will obviously only have access to 1GB of VRAM.

For crossfire, you can use RadeonPro to configure per game profiles, games won't have control over the render device - you turn on Crossfire at driver level, and it presents them to the game seamlessly.

Can I guess I will see a performance upgrade in the witcher 2?

How important is it to have a 2GB card? Do many games take advantage?

Unless you're running above 1920x1200, 1GB is going to be fine. Performance will improve, and you'll be able to use higher IQ options in some cases (like turning on SSAA in DX9 games, or MLAA, or using CCC forced 16xAA).

Never will go above 19 12. My wife to be won't let let me get a 30 incher.
