folding on ps3

ANyone do it?
I have it set up to fold after 30 min inactivity, so my ps3 is on 24/7...
is that bad? do you guys(that know what they are talkign about) think i need a intercooler of sort? Folding seems to get my ps3 as hot as playing assassins creed. I just got it used, it is about 6 months old, i think. I want it to last as long as possible.

No need to worry. I've been running my PS3 24/7 since the client launched. I have stopped it a few times to play some games and occasionally I dabble in my linux partition (won't be doing that much longer with the quad core coming in a week), but other than that, it's been folding. It will get hot. It will get loud. But it'll keep going.

If your PS3's vents should be away from something block it. If so, it should be fine.

yeah , just dont be like the one guy who was afraid dust was going to get in so he taped up the vents.. and you should be ok lol.

i dont even have it installed atm.. i deleted to to use the ps3 proxy server thing to aquire the warhawk beta

.. and I never put it back on.

Ugh stay away from those intercoolers (this goes for any console), you'll do more harm than good.

(PS. Way to go Sony add custom soundtracks to F&H but not games /golfclap)

how can 6 extra fans, going in , and pullng out(uhuh) be a bad thing?
Those thing put through a lot of air, and have thier own power scheme, and variable speeds. the one i was looking at has fans on the back and on the side. can you give me a link that says they actually caused harm please?

There were a few reports of the Nyko Intercooler scorching and arcing at the rear of the 360. I think these have been fixed by a design change, its not that they do harm, most don't seem to do any good either.

i have a ps3 luckily, and the brand i was looking at was not nyko, and it looks like it will work ok, three turbo fans pulling air in, and two large fans blowing the air out. like a pc case, it sounds better than just one internal fan

Howdy Howdy ... Traded my Nintendo Wii, and $100 for a used 60GB PS3... I think it was lightly used. Checked the insides, really didnt have any dust buildup ... so I doubt if it has seen much use.

Now it is folding... and I think I am going to cry.

This thing folds SOOOOOO much faster than all of my other machines put together.

I dont think I am going to waste my money on folding farms... Just get more PS3 machines.

The 40GB models are getting fairly cheap... I cant build a fast computer for that kind of money.

Well, a 40gb brand new is 399. For that price I could put together a cheap dual core system which would be overclocked and net me 1700ish ppd or even try a phenom system, but I'm not sure of the ppd of a phenom at 2.4GHz, I imagine its around 3000ppd with linuxsmp, maybe closer to 3800. Either way, for 400-500 bucks you can build a computer that is more flexible and will pump more points per dollar then the ps3. Also, I have a ps3 folding, so I'm not some anti-ps3 nut

PS WOO 100k points,I think I'm folding around close to 190k points per month, yay!
