Default Need Recommendations On A Build

Sup faggots!

Well to make a long story short my aunt and uncles computer **** the bed after about 10 years. And I am trying to come up with a new build for them. The old POS was an HP 6000a and its been problematic from the start. I recommended to build one for them based on their needs basically word processing, internet, emails etc, photo editing etc etc. So nothing extravagant.

Came up with a few prices ranging from $500 to $800, mostly intel builds but they've had some set backs this months ( my idiot cousin and her refusal to work boyfriend ) so money is tight, so I thought about it and over the years I've been part of this family and it being my aunts BDAY next week and Christmas coming up that I would just buy it for them and build it:

Intel Core™ i5-4440 Processor, 3.10GHz w/ 6MB Cache
Asus H81i-PLUS w/ Dual DDR 1600, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, HDMI, DVI, D-Sub
Gskill RipjawsX Series 8GB PC3-12800 Dual Channel DDR3 Kit (2 x 4GB)
WD 500GB Black SATA III Hard Drive w/ 64MB Cache
Samsung SN-208DB/BEBET 2x Slim DVD-RW, SATA
Silverstone SG05 Black Case w/ 450w Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 8 Professional X64

Nice little upgrade for under $800.00 and a far cry from the POS **** they were using. My uncle lost it though thinking I'm giving them a hand out and is currently right now looking at used PC's

Question though, on the AMD side of things whats comparable? If I can save money then I might as well although if he really throws a tantrum I can always use this as a nice JukeBox setup for the shop I am working at now.

Seems like you ought to be able to get them an SSD if you are in the $800 range.

I am thinking something more like
i3 4330 $120
ASUS H81M-K $50
2x4 GB DDR3 $60
Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB $300
Windows 8(.1) vanilla $100
and $150 left over for case and PSU.

BTW, I don't believe AMD has a CPU equivalent to the i5 you picked.

Thanx for the recommendations guys, I've been looking at some low end AM3 FX CPU's as well as some APU's to see what I can do for price wise.

Why not a Mac Mini? If you build them a box you are on the hook for any issues. If they just need something that works, don't try and build it.

I think an AMD APU setup would likely be quite appropriate for their usage and leave room available in the budget for other things.
