Infinite Monkeys and Infinite Typewriters

LONDON - Give an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of typewriters, the theory goes, and they will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare.

Give six monkeys one computer for a month, and they will make a mess.

In a project intended more as performance art than scientific experiment, faculty and students in the university's media program left a computer in the monkey enclosure at Paignton Zoo in southwest England, home to six Sulawesi crested macaques.

Then, they waited.

At first, said Phillips, "the lead male got a stone and started bashing the hell out of it.

maybe they will realize all they are is a series of ones and zeros, the entire universe is no more complex than many yes or no questions

Read this earlier on wired, and I was about to post it a few seconds before I read this, heh. Anywho, it seems pretty interesting but if you read what they actually typed - it makes sense to the untrained eye.

Lemme guess: were there a lot of qwerty's and asdf's in there?

You have to wonder whether the apes were the more intelligent group in this: The monkeys were having fun while a bunch of uber-geeks were wasting their time trying to see what monkeys type.
