![]() Well, next year we should see dual core CPU's from Intel, which is quite exciting.

They will keep the same P4 prescot architecture with just some tweaks at max 3.8 GHZ (just little better FSB and DDR2 mem etc) I think Intel has really screwed things up ![]() AMD 64 is already planning for a AMD 64 4000+ and probably will have a AMD 64 5000+ until the end of 2005 I do not understand why Intel still keeps the Pentium 4 architecture technology (which is really old by now and has reached to it's limits) Without competition AMD will start it's monopoly and rise prices ![]() |

Do you know how long it would take for AMD to establish a 'monopoly'? They will need to have the best luck along with the best products coupled with intel having the worst of both for 5-10 years for AMD to have a monopoly. That's how far behind they are. No matter how good AMD's processors are, people just don't care because the majority just don't know. Lack of advertising is AMD's problem.. of course their chips are so great because they put all their money into R&D. But, even if they did start a strong advertising campaign, it would take years for it to even establish half the 'integrity' Intel's advertising has over the years. Then there are problems with supply - even if AMD convinced the market, they don't have the manufacuturing ability to create enough chips to take the majority of the market from intel. As of now, best they can manage is around 25% market share (from the dismal ~16% they have). AMD will most likely never maintain a monopoly over Intel. Up times like these and 2000-2001 are just what keeps them in business. Be thankful for them while they still manage to survive.

![]() fyi. amd plans to have 3ghz amd 64 by the end of 2005. yeah intel you might want to consider doing something instead of taking the attitude of "We are too big of a company to crash and burn" |

![]() AMD already has a prototype dual core processor. Intel doesn't I believe AMD's dual core processors will be out by mid 2005 beating intel AMD Athlon 64 in games is faster then anything intel has and is gaining ground is the only benchmark intel has left media encodeing. by next year AMD will surpass intel in even this. Windows XP 64 bit edition will be out by Q1 2005 benchmarks are still out on this though. although untill intel has x86-64 support they will not be able to use it. Next year intel isn't bringing out anything bran new. And even at dual core they will have to compete with AMD with there integrated memory controller already working 64 bit and hypertransport architecture. innovations that will set AMD above intel.

don't agree, they need to partner with either ATI or nvidia or both which is already happening. Soon you will be abel to get Motherboard with ATI chipset ATI Radeon video card AMD PRocessor or Nforce chipset Geforce video card AMD processor with the same company making both the chipset and the video car you will end up with the best compatibility around, compatibility that will rivel intel. not only in performance but price.
