![]() a couple of weeks ago, one of my molar's filling chipped off. It started to ache a couple of days ago so I went to the dentist. He said that it's not revealing the nerve yet so he put in fillings for me, but after that it started to ache like hell eveytime that I put pressure on the tooth or drink or eat anything that's a little cold or hot (even warm hurts). Right now am on tylenol 3 and advil (been 5 days already). Are fillings suppose to hurt this much? Thanks |

![]() I had the same thing a few months ago. The hypersensitivity went away after a month, but every once in a while I still get it. At first I couldn't even eat bread! Give it some time and see what happens.

![]() I guess it wouldn't hurt to wait a little bit. But I recently had a root canal, and they're not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. However, if it's done on a molar, they do recommend a cap after. I did not get the cap done yet.. and I know I should. But I don't have dental and the cost is approx 1300 canadian.

![]() I have the same on one of my "vampire" teeth. Sorry don't know the medical term, I do not think it's an incisor nor a bicuspit...wait maybe it is a bicuspit. Anyhow, the filing chiped on that so I went to the dentist (about 2 months ago) and he started drilling. All of the sudden he says "oh oh, did you feel that?" I say "no" he says "good". Then after all said and done he says "well in order to clean out your other filling I had to get close to the nerve. I have placed a new filling in, but your tooth is most lieklly to ache from now on. If it does ache then I will recommend a root canal." Well it's been over 2 months and If I do not take Advil in the morning and before going to bed, I will have a huge ache that spreads throughout my whole upper side of my mouth. I can not get a root canal since I don't have dental, and the root canal with the cap can be anywhere close to $2000! ![]() Oh yeah, the tooth is also sensitive to pressure, and temperature.

![]() If most of the tooth is still there, or if it looks like a regular tooth with fillings. You should get a root canal. It's not as bad as people say it is. It actually hurts a lot less than getting your tooth pulled out. |

![]() Thanks guy, I just went to a specialist and he told me that I needed the root canal. With insurance, the total comes out to be $530. This is not including the fillings or crown that I am going to get. Oh man...the pain...financial pain that is. |

![]() if its a molar, just get it pulled...I cracked one of mine on a tic-tac and had a huge cavity because of that. It wasn't quite to the nerve so I had 3 choices: filling, root canal and cap or get it pulled and forget it. If you aren't willing to shell out the big bucks just get it pulled and forget it. A filling won't keep it from reaching the nerve and then you'll be in a world of **** Full Metal Jacket style... aka you'll want to blow your brains out with a rifle because of the pain |

![]() Root canals really aren't that bad at all. I had one a couple of years ago after one of my front four teeth was knocked out. Since it started to turn gray, I had it bonded, and it is just fine now.
