The developer trailer does say they're going for more action, and retaining 7's first person perspective (which imo is the best use of PSVR ever, unless some bright spark fixed up a way to use it for Alyx via SteamVR).

Really hoping it's closer to RE2 in terms of "action", or maybe 4, than RE6...

Little variety in the enemies didn't help. The combat became a little too Moldy.

That was the turning point.
it was also the one that changed the controls from tank rotation to actual movement i think.

I never really played them (not my type of game) but know enough about them over the course of its existence (except 6..never really paid attention to 6)

Yeah RE6 and the Revelations games are the only games from the series I'm not at all interested in from what I've seen of them. I'm glad they got the series back on a quality track with RE7 and the remakes.

At first, I though that the tall lady was just a tyrant, but from what I've seen she's actually doing vampire stuff, so I'm kind of curious.

Thats a pretty standard length for RE games, they're never much longer than 10-15 hours max for a single playthrough. Typically they are also designed for multiple playthroughs to unlock all items and get better ranks on harder difficulty modes.

Hmm, I played 2 remake, 5 and 7 and all felt longer but could be wrong. Didn’t pay full price for them either so will wait for this one to drop in price and I am not one to play game over even if it has different outcomes

Looking on howlongtobeat.com these are the approximate lengths for main story single playthroughs of the mainline RE games.

RE1 (original / remake) - 6.5 hours, 11 hours
RE2 (original / remake) - 6 hours, 8.5 hours
RE3 (original / remake) - 6.5 hours, 6 hours
RE4 - 16 hours
RE5 - 12 hours
RE6 - 21.5 hours
RE7 - 9 hours

And yeah that's the great thing about PC gaming, most games will drop in price within a year so if it seems too much for you just wait a bit. Probably a more stable game by then too.

I'm actually taking my time, going back to all doors, wells etc once i can, and also getting lost a wee bit. Trying to turn all the red rooms blue. Therefore I'm 10 hours in already and still have a fair chunk left.

I notice a lot of people do rush through games. Or maybe rush isn't the right word, more so that they don't explore everything fully and just stop once in a while to look around and take it all in.

I tend to take my time as well and really explore everything in the game the devs spent so much of their time designing. Because of that my gameplay time is usually a few hours longer than the average.

If normal person is finishing it in 8-9 hours then it is a 6-7 hour game for me. Don't see the value of spending that much dope for a 6-7 hour game. Even though I am quite intrigued by it and I did like RE7.

Well that was a very good game. Has far more variety than RE7, but the flipside of that is that it's not as intimate or personal with its enemies (bosses don't have multiple rounds like in RE7) and it's less about hiding/horror. It's basically like they took RE7 and just made more resident evily. And it works fairly well.

Maybe it spreads itself too thin? Probably not, as the variety is good and it's longer without being boring. Most bosses were pretty good without dragging out too much. It also doesn't collapse in the last third like RE7 did. Has an actiony bit near the end but it's short and sweet.

Overall quite impressive. Uses sound very well in a lot of cases.

8/10 solid effort and one of the best games this year I'd say.

Was a tight game that didn’t overstay its welcome. Even though it was longer than 7 but I really left 7 for a long time before I finished it. This one I played all the way till the end just like I did to produce you guys.

If I replay RE7, I get to the Ship, remember how fkin long and drawn out it is, and put the game aside.

This one though was a very rare 100%er achievement-wise for me.
