Default This Week at Work

People are such an interesting study. I figured, we all see crazy ****, so let's share the dumb and ugly in our daily lives. I'll go first:

We run a wedding venue. This past wedding was mostly people from another state, and as the guests arrived a few of them seemed nervous about where they could put their purses. I didn't think much of it, knowing where they were from -- I let them know this is a small wedding and their bag would be safe at the ceremony chair or at their assigned chair in the reception space, but they still seemed nervous to leave it.

As the event goes on, my other half notices some people are taking extra time in the bathroom. Ok, kinda weird... but he shrugged it off.

As I am working alongside one of our employees cleaning up at the end of the night, I find out that a few guests asked him where they could find cocaine in this little county in the middle of nowhere. "The good stuff, man..." They asked more than once.

I'm like... didn't that go out in the 90s?

Then the bartender tells me she saw one of the guests come out of the bathroom with white powder on her nose.

Why does nobody tell me this while the event is going on?

As an aside, I didn't have an officer on site for this one because it was so small. Figured we likely didn't need one. Ha!

Hooker and blow are apparently rampant in their neck of the woods I guess. I'm sure that marriage will stand the test of time.

They do in most places except Oregon. They also get a slap on the wrist, and sent home unless they're dealing. Even then these days it's also a slap on the wrist.

If you ever moved to the US, and moved into a blue state... Your mind would be blown.

Let’s not make this into a blue state/red state thing. Only difference is where the supply is coming from. One from a foreign country, the other from a shed out in the woods

No, but a few weeks ago a videographer hooked up with one of the bridesmaids and they partied all weekend together.

The awkward part is... the bridesmaid had her boyfriend at the wedding as a +1.

Of course, this put the officiant in a very sticky spot -- the minister came up with a way to present them without saying "man and wife" or "mr and mrs" and avoided all language in the vows that would make it a binding marriage.

They did get married at the courthouse about a year later and made it official, but still.

I was 100% certain not long ago I would be out of work by now. I'm not thankfully, so in light of that, I'll put up with whatever weirdness customers want to throw at me lol.

Within reason of course. Some folks are much less inhibited than others.
