One thing I question is why did they do a full production run if the drivers were not ready? It seems like they could have just had a few engineering samples made and then sorted the drivers out, maybe even skip this gen and launch next time around?

It seems like they totally underestimated the challenge making drivers would be (I guess maybe not realizing how bad their IGP drivers were?), while simultaneously they were too aggressive with trying to create features when they hadn't even got the basics worked out.

Koduri is a software guy so you'd think he could get a team working well on that. But the 800 lb gorilla in the room is that Intel just doesnt have the gpu IP to work with. And as much money as intel has to throw at this if they dont license some IP from amd or nvidia (or maybe powervr?...) they probably cant catch up easily.

Maybe in a couple years but its not looking good.

Honestly they have probably already just about killed this line with crap drivers, they will probably lose more money making them than to make them and sell them. Who’s going to buy? Other than the uniformed I suppose.

The GN review shows the driver issues well and it's incredible that they were released in that state.

I want them to succeed. More competition is needed after the horrendous pricing we've seen recently.

Agreed, the GN review says it's mostly a driver issue.

Even if they compete mid range or low end there is a market for that.

But surely Intel can afford to sort out their drivers.

Have they now become the new 'there drivers suxzorz' crew?(Misspelling is deliberate in the quote).

Nah, they were always the top dog in the "there drivers suxzorz" crew, people just didn't care about their igps.

Intel is not poor like AMD relatively speaking. Intel should be hiring the best experts to sort out the driver issues if they really want to compete in discrete graphics.

Intel is having trouble generating revenue and losing revenue from the CCG, DCAI and IFC units is troublesome and concerning.

I was surprised that Intel didn't offer -- Preliminary Financial Results -- for their troublesome quarter, but Nvidia just offered -- Preliminary Financial Results -- for their upcoming troublesome quarter blaming the guidance miss on gaming revenue:

FWIW: Intel has around 4% of the discrete Gpu share according to Jon Peddie -- let's see if this number grows or lessens with the next report.

Intel Intel Graphics Releases Arc 30.0.101.3268 Beta Drivers with Dozens of Fixes

A full list of fixes can be found by clicking the source link below.

Intel Graphics over the weekend released the Arc Graphics Drivers version 30.0.101.3268 beta. These drivers add performance optimization for Saints Row and Madden NFL 23, but that's hardly the defining feature. In our testing, the drivers were found to to be night-and-day compared to the previous version, in terms of overall system stability. The release comes hot on the heels of a report that Intel fixed as many as 43 bugs just by watching a product review video by Gamers Nexus.

Among the fixed issues are lower-than-expected performance with Marvel's Spider Man (Remastered) in DirectX 12 mode; an application crash with SoTR in DirectX 12 mode with ray traced shadow quality set to "high," a texture-corruption issue with Battlefield 2042 in DirectX 12 mode; artifacts and object loading failures seen in Halo Infinite, an application crash with Horizon Zero Dawn, and the nasty bug where Windows Update attempts to replace the installed driver, causing severe stability issues. As many as 17 bugs related to Arc Control and 11 bugs related to Arc Control Performance Tuning, have been fixed, as listed below.

DOWNLOAD: Intel Arc 30.0.101.3268 beta

I don’t. My guess would be that no one else does either, since it is an extremely rough first-generation product.
