Our AB premier temporarily waived the provincial 13 cent per litre gas tax...which i dont know if it even did anything. I dont recall the prices dropping 13 cents a litre after the announcement but It might have just delayed the price rise by 13 cents a litre...so it might already factored in now?
Trudeau COULD HAVE temporarily paused the carbon tax (the tax value increases by $10 a tonne every year or something since it was implemented until it reachs i think $150/tonne. The last increase was on April 1st, right before the gas prices started to spike to alleviate some of the financial strain the population is experiencing but...nope hes not about helping Canadians. AB dumbass premier scrapped the previous NDP gov carbon tax so we are forced to use the federal one. IF we had the AB carbon tax i think we could have had the power to temporarily pause it...but nope. AB premier is all about **** Trudeau.

If anyone in the US wants to experience non-American high gas prices, come to Canada and fill up If you're bitchin now, holy. And here in Oilberta, a huge chunk of the population has gigantic lifted gas guzzling trucks lol.

Heck theres word that the prices are going to increase by like 3cents/litre this coming weekend.
actually trudy and his cronies have 3 taxes on gas. The federal excise tax, the carbon tax and then the hst on top of that. Plus the afformentioned provincial taxes. I think the federal portion is 40-50 cents a litre. If the nib alliance actually cared about the common folk these taxes could and should be waived temporarily at least. The feds rake in 10s of billions in extra taxes due to high oil prices so its not like we cant afford it

Bill the Ford Lightning Lariat TFL got only managed around 2M/Kwh, and on the highway the range wasn't close to the 310 Ford stated. It was more like 250.

Seems to charge fairly quickly though. 30-40 min gets you to around 80%.

They have the extended range. The truck is shaped like a brick though so at higher speeds you're actually using more juice than you would by far in city driving. Unless you spend a ton of time going 75mph like they were on that road trip I think you'll do better. They're also big boys, so figure in 450lbs of payload with just them on that trip.

I low key want a Cyber Truck. Like the $70k one with the 2.9 0-60 and 500m range they're talking about.

normal EV charging seems to be fastest between 10-80% (whatever the max rated charging rate is). Then it takes just as long (or more) as the entire 10-80% time to charge that last 20%.

So its always recommended to keep the battery between 10-80%....which in turn reduces the "usable" range to like 70% of the manufacturer rated. Plus this seems to be the method to minimize battery degradation.

that is for charging stations on trips

the question i have is what about at home

is it better for the battery on over night charging
to plug them in every night and charge from say 60% to 100% slower
or every other day and go from 20% to 100%

The whining over energy company profits just continues. I've already posted twice about this. I give up. People refuse to listen.

I would think you would charge it like you would your phone.

You plug it in every night and the car should slow charge to 100.
Either the car or the charger itself automatically adjusts the charging rate once it hits that 80% to slow charge.
THe biggest concern with battery degredation is the fast charging. I dont know how the battery chemistry is affected but slow charging keeps the battery life at its maximum longevity but fast charging it degrades it faster....im guessing its because of the higher voltage or amps or wahtever that gets pushed into the battery?

Its just one of those annoying things with current EV ownership that you think about but you really don't have to think about it.....

I have my charger set to begin at 11pm (when rates are lower). I get home...plug in car....walk inside....wake up...unplug car and it's at 85% (where I max charge for regular use). Unplug and go about my day.

Once I forgot to plug in but still had plenty of juice for my typical day.

Wouldn't matter what percentage makes up the price in taxes, what a company makes in profit for a quarter is what they make in profit.

ExxonMobile made almost $5.5 billion in profit in Q1; that's what their earnings report said. But at a Q1 revenue of $90.5 billion; $5.5 billion isn't mind blowing - about a 6% profit margin. They made more in Q4 2021. Disney made $7.2 billion in Q1 profit for comparison.

Profit is only good for dispersing to shareholders, owners, or if you're smart putting back into your business.

To me though, revenue is king. Walmart rules them all there - over a half a trillion a year in revenue rolling through that business. It's why I don't really get up in arms about oil companies making some money; all the big companies do.

Why revenue?

If your investing and looking for a company to buy into wouldn't a high profit company be more appealing than high revenue?

A company can't buy back stock with revenue right?

Stock buybacks are the debil - they were illegal up until the 1980's for a reason; they're a form of stock manipulation.

Revenue on the books is what keeps the doors open; and you can't have profit without it.
