Needed a thread for this specifically, Sound's thread got off track too much. No flaming or anything in this thread please, lets just TRY to make it a nice discussion. So far we have 2 cards that will be launched on November 15th:

Single slot cooler for the XT?

No one is producing decent aftermarket DHES coolers anymore, were there any for the HD2900?

I wouldn't care too much if I could buy an XT with a single slot cooler, if I knew that a decent double slotter was coming out from Arctic Cooling or some other company.

My one wish was that the XT would come with a dual slot cooler, mainly for overclocking etc.

i think it will be HD3850 vs 8800GT and HD3870 vs new 8800GTS

it would make sense because why would nvidia release a new GTS if ATI's HD3870 is 'only' a mid-range card.

plus from what i've heard about the new GTS it will have the same amount of memory (512MB) as the HD3870. while HD3850/8800GT will come in both 256 and 512 versions.

Read/write multi-sample on surfaces is listed as something new here I think compared to the 2900 -- does anyone know what this means exactly?

Are we not going to see a new GPU architecture from nV this holiday season but only refreshes of existing designs (will be 1 year old by Christmas)?

Don't forget 8800GT, which isn't a slouch, either, and that might be a factor.

The RAM size doesn't necessarily mean Gladiator is the superior card, anyway. nVidia probably just wants a little variation.

It acually looks like the 2600XT board tweaked, sounds weird but it looks very similar.

This is what happens when competition is uneven and tis why AMD needs to get back on top so nVidia will launch new parts with new faster tech every 12 months.

i understand the 8800GT is a great card at its price point and being a die shrink of G80, it has the feeling of being a good performer as well.

HD3870/3850 should be great performers as well but if they are a little behind the 8800GT in performance, ATI will have to sell them for less to compete. i'm just thinking out loud.

It's freaking amazing on how they got it to have less transistors than R600 while having UVD and DX10.1 functionality built in. Memory contollers must take alot of freaking room.

Yeah the lack of the 512-bit bus helps alot.

So this means R680 has 1.333 billion trannies, thats alot ot trannies.
