Yes me pumping 3 cards as well. Don’t care about resale for now. This time not selling off. If I had held off to my 0.6 coin that I mined in 2018 it would’ve been dope af right now.

Yeah I have no idea what to accumulate during market down times. When good projects dry up and wither away while some crap like DOGE skyrockets how can anyone really predict anything here. At this point it looks like about 99% luck. May as well throw darts at an alt board and stack whatever it lands on.

It's basically a casino.

I still feel like RTX 4090 is going to be $4000 with Nvidia wondering why sales are so low. 2080ti all over again.

Well after 18 months of mining I can report:
Zotac 3070 sucks. 1 fan won't startup sometimes so I start by hand and it's fine. Lucky it goes a month before needing a reboot.

EVGA ftw3 3080 my first ever card had the plastic plate holding the fans fall half off. Keeping together with a ziptie.

MSI 3070 all 4 crappy plastic clips holding fans fell off entirely from the card.

So fans all sucking badly on 3000 series.

Otherwise not a spec of dust on any of my cards. All rigs kept in small room with a/c and airflow/ventilation in/out.

Few other notes:
Gigabyte is the worst and cheaped out on paste/pads. 3090 gigabyte eagle sucks because of it. You have to get your own pads.

The mining specific motherboards suck!!! I have a problem like other people it always drops one card eventually. Always n-1 cards work.

Best cards performance and heat wise are both 3090 Asus Strix. No mods, cool enough, high Hashrate.

You should see my report.

Palit gamerock cards rocked. EVGA 3090 Ti is the only one that rocked as well.
Gigabyte gaming OC 3070 is dope af and ASUS dual KO 3070 was also silent.

Every other brand of cards sucked ass for mining. Asus TUF, MSI Suprim X, EVGA FTW3 cards, Gigabyte Eagle etc.

No doubt. Though the incoming gpu mining ice age after eth merge is honestly a bigger deal in the space vs. the valuations headed down.

It won't sell at 4 grand. They can't be that out of touch with reality. Sales will end up speaking for themselves if they try that stunt.

I've run nothing but standard ATX motherboards and power supplies. I've had better luck with my MSI Tomahawk B450 than I have with my ASUS ROG B550-F. The latter sometimes fails to detect GPUs on power cycles, gives me the white LED and generally can be a pita. The MSI just seems to work and with the full 6 cards.

I've almost exclusively run AMD 6000 series cards: Sapphire, AMD Reference, Gigabyte, and Powercolor.

Zero fan failures in well over a year. I shut down and blast the dust out of my stuff every 30-45 days. Maybe it is just the 3000 series cards that have fan issues? Seems weird to me.

I have three 3000 series cards with crappy plastic breaking and fans are off..so just cheap Chinese quality. The cards are solid.
Also an old 1060 with 1 fan dead..

Who builds cards for $1000++ then puts in 2 cent plastic and thermal pads! Nvidia AIB is who

Completely ridiculous that the AIB won't put an extra $25-50 into good fans and top shelf thermal pads on a 3090 that costs $2000. Just pass the cost onto the consumer and save us the TIME of dealing with it.

Agree. They need proper pads and fans. First time I have been this disappointed with fan noise across so many brands. If 1 can get it right there is no reason why others can’t.

Another thing that boggles my mind is that EVGA charged 300$ for FTW3 cooling on 3090 and 129$ for 3080 on day 1. I really did not get that. It is frickin stupid and same activity was performed by ASUS, MSI etc. just to milk the crap out of GPU shortage opportunity. Completely breaks long term trust. On the other hand I didn’t see Palit or Gigabutt do this crap.

In their defense, the thermal pads are good enough for basically everything but mining.

Pretty poor defense. It's a legitimate use case and some of their customers are applying them towards that application. Easy and cheap to fix. But for whatever reason they won't.

In my experience the Asus rog Strix was the only one that didn't need aftermarket work. KAC my gigabyte did however. Maybe yours is a.different version.

Hoping the next gen won't need work after spending thousands. I'm not holding my breath though.

So are you guys also thinking market goes even lower until around September? Then they start printing again before midterm elections and claim they conquered inflation?

I need cheaper Bitcoin and firesale alts

I mentioned that Gigabyte eagle had poor cooling on GDDR6X memory cards. Gigabyte gaming OC on 3070 didn’t need any aftermarket work.

I've only had one 3090 card (non Ti) which was a EVGA FTW3. That card ran memory in the high 80s and low 90s out of the box with just a 120mm fan dropped right onto the backplate.

We're in a period of high volatility right now in the general economy and I don't see it trending back up for a while. Possibly years. The volatility will be here while we continue to trend down. I suspect the crytpo markets will generally follow the same path. The timing of this is interesting too where we have the wheels about to fall off GPU mining completely and it hits an ice age due to the merge while valuations are also on a spiral down too. Perfect storm I guess.

I just hope nothing changes on ETH POS nonsense. Then I can continue to mine with these cards as they still pumping out decent money.

Unless they delay it further we have 2-3 months left to mine. Then we're done.

The difficulty bomb will be impacting sooner than that and will move block times up noticeably which is also not good.

August PoS coming. It's always delayed so I figure a few more months past August anyways. Apparently July 15th the difficulty bomb gets serious and who knows what the profitability will be. Very bad. Since all other alts are down any PoW coin won't be profitable. Only speculative mining thereafter.

I still think the fedz try something without luck for November midterms.

I'm waiting for alts to drop another 50%++ before I buy some

Even with the price collapsing right now, the merge closing in, and the difficulty bomb about to blow up we aren't seeing any real big dip in hash rate. Not sure exactly what that shows other than we're going to slam right into the merge at top speed with no foot on the brake. Nobody seems to want to give up until the absolute end.

The bomb is a wildcard though so we'll see. That might be a tipping point and there may be an exodus off the network when it starts to heavily impact.

Not sure what the fed can try before the midterms anyway and what would be the point? Inflation needs to be reigned in and there is no choice but to keep pushing the rates up until it gets back in check.
