I'd save up and get something a bit quicker. I had my trusty 8500 a while up until my Herc 9800 Pro recently.

But the ti4600 is slightly faster than your 8500 if you're not going to have any more upgrades for a while. (it is an NVidia card though... Card of the enemy.. )

I'd wait and get a cheap 9500 or even 9700 there should be plenty around on EBay etc. That's just my personal opinion though, I'd rather stick with the great Image Quality and save my little bit of cash towards a bigger better card a little further in the future.

I'd save my money if I were you. As a rule, I never "upgrade" within a generation.

EDIT: this rule applies the same if you were looking to "upgrade" to a 128mb Radeon 8500, not based on the fact that you're considering a nVidia product.

Good idea! If you get the ti4600, you will be getting poor driver support as well (since NVs drivers have gone to hell).

i agree... just save up and either buy a 9600pro retail or buy a used 9500pro via EBay

I look at it this way: it's not an upgrade if it's gonna lessen your image quality.

Keep your 8500 and only upgrade when you can afford a DX9 ATI card. No sense sacrificing IQ.
