Default Unpopular opinion: GPU shortage is actually a good time

It has caused me to dip into my library of older games and finally play them through. With great frame rates to top it off

Most of those points are moot. Anyone on old hardware in 2019 has already been playing classic games, playing with settings to get the best experience, and generally dealing with slow frame rates.

I don't know if I've said it here, but the chain of events leading me to a $435 5700XT were perfectly timed.

>be me
>buy Vega64 for $430, December 2018
>deal with occasional hard crashes but nothing big
>get 1440p monitor
>get more crashes
>COVID
>Start Folding @ Home again to support the cause
>Get 3 - 6 crashes a day
>After months of obsession, data collection, decide there's no pattern and finally RMA the Vega64
>Run with HD7970 for 40+ days and regain respect for this very old card
>Get Vega64 back. Observe more crashing.
>RMA it a 2nd time
>Decide not to go back to HD 7970 and just buy top-end 5700XT for $435 (August, 2020)
>MSI says Vega64 is FUBAR.
>Get check from MSI for $380.

I bought a few guns instead of PC parts. Wife just informed me it's time to stop that though...

Bright side is, I can use those for way longer than I can a GPU, CPU, etc.

The point of that thread is to make people that are so angry that they can't upgrade see a bright side on this. There was a childish backlash. In this running after every new gen people forgot some old games and some potentials.
I have many games that i never played until now.
