Angry

I think this has been posted before, but I have tried everything, but the TV will not initialize. I've tried changing the ati2mtag.sys, every driver known to man, and every mmc version. I installed the via 4 in one, but nothing works. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Abit KT7A-Raid
512 mb ram
1.2 ghz athlon (not overclocked, and at 100 mhz bus)
4 46 gig ibm 7200 rpm drives
radeon all in wonder 32 mb retail
330 watt power supply
2 scsi cards
soundblaster live!
3com nic
quantum atlas 10k II hard drive (for OS)
Windows 2000 SP1

I think that's it.

Thanks

Wow, the 3073 ati2mtag.sys fix worked for me. Fortunately I got to screw around with this crap on my test bed installation of Win2000 not my "business" one. I see you have quite a few drives in your system. It took me 17 minutes to install my second win2000. How long have you screwed around with the fixes? Try a bare and clean test bed, handy thing to have(especially when installing ECDC 5). My guess is its software related. Once you have the ATI working start reinstalling your other software to see if that causes a conflict.

Unhappy

I've tried re-installing quite a few times, but nothing works. I have downloaded and tried every driver. I am almost tempted to just sell the thing for a separate tuner and a geforce2. I don't give up easy, but there is no other options to get this up and running. Let me know if you have any other ideas.

Thanks,

I'm only going to try this once.. cuz for some reason people disagree with my install ideas! That and this will be a LOT of typing!!

First Theres Bios Settings: (From ATI)

Recommended BIOS settings for AGP cards (if available):
1. Video BIOS Shadow and Video BIOS Cacheable - DISABLED
2. C8000-CBFFFF Shadow and CC000-CFFFF - ENABLED
3. AGP Aperture size - 64 MB
4. AGP Turbo - DISABLED
5. VGA Frame Buffer and Primary Frame Buffer - DISABLED
6. PnP OS installed - YES
7. Assign IRQ for VGA - ENABLED
8. Resource Control - AUTO
9. AGP Bus Mastering - ENABLED
10. AGP 2X mode - ENABLED (4X if supported) but way more stable at 2x with abit boards
11. VGA Palette Snooping - DISABLED
12. Video Shadowing - DISABLED
13. Disable any USWC or Write Combine options in the CMOS
14. Try forcing the External Cache to use the Write-Through method, not the Write-back method
15. Disable any manual configuration of PCI by setting these options to AUTO
16. Init Primary Display - AGP
17. System Bios Cacheable - DISABLED
18. Video BIOS Mode Cache - UC
19. AGP Master read/write - ENABLED
20. AGP Fast Write – DISABLED
21. AGP driving control set it manual
22.set value to 68
23. FAST CPU COMMAND DECODE, set to normal

Fresh install:

1. Load Windows 98/2k (Your using 2k I think)
2. Then install the Via 4.28a patch (reboot )
3. Then install SP1 (reboot )
4. Install DX8 or leave it DX7 depends on what drivers used
5. Then I would install the 3035 - 3073 drivers
6. Install MMC 7 *reboot*
7. Try to run the TV app.. make sure its working okay!
if you like the setup now keep it - Directx8 upgrade
8. Install the 3102 drivers- don't use 3114 I've had trouble
9. Then install the MMC 7.1
10. test the TV out to see if it works... CPU might be at 100% ... we'll fix this next!
11. Goto post http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthre...threadid=12297
11. Now you'll need to copy the ati2mtag.sys from the post to the C:\winnt\system32\drivers folder! *reboot*

You should be able to use your card for okay now! Any questions just ask!

Now the fun part! Fixing w/o reloading 101

1. Goto START -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS
2. Uninstall ATI multimedia center
3. Uninstall ATI Display driver

***you'll need to have all files show for this one, TOOL -> FOLDER OPTIONS -> VIEWS TAB -> Make a dot beside show hidden or system files***

4. Double click on my computer -> C: drive (or whatever) -> WINNT -> INF -> OTHER -> Delete EVERYTHING w/ ATI in it

5. Close all windows -> Right Click on MY COMP -> PROPERTIES -> HARDWARE TAB -> DEVICE MANAGER TAB -> CLick the PLUS (+) by Sound, video and game controllers

6. Delete all the ATI Stuff under here short from Special VBI Codec (can't place the name .. I'm at work ..heh )

7. *** REBOOT ***

8. Goto Step 5 in the RELOAD fresh section and follow it down.. see if this helps!!

Try that.. and send your phriends here ,cuz my hand are tired now and I hope this helps people out!

Peace out !
