Managed to pull a team of 3 together yesterday and did some Arena. It's interesting. The meta is very different from the Battle Royale mode. I see some legends' abilities being very useless in the Arena while others see improvements. It's a nice way to warm up, gain some experience with guns and movement. Not a replacement for the BR and gets boring after a while, but a neat addition.

Arena is even more reliant on teammates. I played 3 rounds and wont be playing anymore because Ill never have a group of 3.


Abilities are not useless and some are even more powerful than BR. For example, Rampart becomes immediately viable and better than a lot of characters(a complete 180 from BR mode) because of the inherit need to camp spots and protect yourself.

I agree. I didn't mean to make it sound like abilities were useless, but the meta changes significantly and I think some legend's abilities are not as good in Arena. Rampart is one who shines where she sort of sucks in BR. I think Pathfinder, for example, isn't quite as useful.

Not sure how I feel about Arena's now that I've played it a bunch. For me... it kinda feels stupid old school and l moved beyond tiny TDM shooters like this decades ago.

I guess it depends. I've been enjoying them because there's no 3rd parties and no issues with bad loot. I think it's probably a better way to get used to weapons and shooting than just landing hot over-and-over. That said, the Battle Royale is still better.

That's fair. It did take for freaking ever to get used to the weapons and how they work through the BR mode.

this summer it will be 1 year since i quit the game cold turkey after playing since season 0 (it would have been 2 years I think then or something). it seems like at that point they clearly did not care to smooth out the core mechanics.

What didn't fly for you mechanics wise? Games gone through a metric ton of changes.

thats just it. i dont think the community needed those changes, or at least i didn't... it felt like they started pumping out new characters at an accelerated rate (even though it was probably at the regular rate), and anew gun, and then the new map came out which I haven't even cared to try... Overall though there were a lot of small issues that altogether just wore me down after a couple years. A lot of sound glitches/silent footsteps, getting killed while behind cover, an overall occasionally jittery experience, a lot of blatant hackers in the mid to high ranked games... i just wish we could back to that season 0 time...

Pretty sure they've fixed the sound issues and no-reg hits as streamers aren't complaining about it anymore (I watch Apex streams almost everyday and they used to point it out often). I agree that the rate at which new characters are coming out is too fast and they have neglected characters that need balancing. Wattson used to be a prime pick and now she's almost useless and is never in the endgame pro meta anymore.

Glad you were able to get away and enjoy things, though. I took a few seasons off and I think the game is better now than it was when I stopped (I think I skipped seasons 4, 5 and 7). Lots of QoL improvements and coming to Steam have really made it better. For me seeing the population increase was the most enjoyable because the pool of crappy players like me is higher, so I have more fun

i still think it is fun to watch and watch the streamers as well on occasion. they still get "no-footsteps'ed" pretty much every time i tune in. i just miss the old skulltown, etc, with a peacekeeper, just running around... pretty sure we got a win once or twice together jet

It still happens, but it's far more rare now. I've watched plenty of streamers like ImperialHal or NoKokopuffs and they call it out... but I could hear it on stream and they just missed it. That said, the state of sound being like this is perplexing for it being inconsistent at all. I mean... it's the Source engine. Resolving this 100% shouldn't be rocket science.

The biggest bug I encounter regularly is not being able to ping stuff, or loot people. Kind limits my ability to armour swap during a fight if I can't loot people :\

The new weapon "Rampage" also needs a nerf. Slaps way too hard, sure it fun right now though . Same with the Prowler, connect 3 bursts and you'll down almost anyone makes it way to OP.

Seer definitely needs something different. He can track people so many different ways. At the very least, his Q shouldn't disrupt heals etc as that's pretty unfair.

Rampage, though, seems fine. It's slow rate of fire makes up for the damage and the thermite grenades burn down even when not being used to charge it up. That said, I notice the Bocek basically isn't being used at all and I wonder if it should come out of the game or if they should do something with it. I was never a fan of using a bow but now nobody is.

Imho for Seer fix

Passive Heart beat sensor - The current range should only be for a running heart rate. Walking heart rate should be shorter range and still should make you vanish.

Q - Take away the damage. It's kinda lame you can Q kill and finish people off through walls, doors, building, terrain etc etc etc. The disrupt is to OP as well, would be better if it was more like a flashbang.

Ultimate - Take away seeing the health/armour. His ult really isn't that bad.

Imho on the rampage I think it's accuracy non-ads should be a touch lower when you spam it and it's damage a touch lower when not boosted with a thermite nade.

Pros will be mad as Respawn supposedly said they never would, but I can't do it so it won't affect me. Can you actually pull it off?

Unless I'm thinking of something else? Isn't this the thing where you can hop around while healing and move faster than if you were just walking and healing?

Tap strafe is changing direction mid air while trying to minimize loosing much momentum. At it's extremes you can 180 mid-air without loosing speed off a jump pad. Letting you kinda go straight up, instead of propelled in a direction. Typically it's used to make sharper jump slides or make subtle adjustments mid air off a jump pad..

It's not really a new movement concept. It's as old as Quake, which is funny as Apex Legends use the Source engine... which is based on the Quake 1 engine.

This video explains it... but I do it without changing my bindings to make more subtle adjustments than mid-air 180 madness.

Also they ended up not removing tap strafing.

Maybe it could happen? League of Legends is branching off into shows and side-games (there's a JRPG or something). I would love to play some Apex/Titan Fall games with these characters as playable or even as NPCs.

Yeah, I wasn't pretty unimpressed with the loot this season. Which I find really kinda odd, given this was the season over Christmas. Which is usually kinda awesome. Both in this game and others.

Yea I might push through a little further but Im not in love with the level 100 skin so theres not much incentive there. Its a lot easier to level coming in 8 weeks after it started… just grabbing challenge after challenge passively playing.

I found that when I bought the season pass I stressed so much over earning levels that I just didn't enjoy the game as much. Plus most of the items, other than a few gems, aren't usually worth it. I find I prefer to buy a few packs or items during specialty events more than to spend on the pass.

Come on guys, be fair, they only earned a couple billion dollars from this free to play game, they can't really afford to pay developers or put money back into the game. You didnt buy enough, spend more money.
