but really, are any ETA's official, they seem to change from one employee to the next, I ordered from ENPC.com and I know my card will be here in a week or 2, ETA 1-2weeks

I've talked to 2 large distributors in the Toronto, Ontario region. Both replies were as follows: Company 1: We will be receiving a shipment as soon as ati ships them. Company 2: We have no SKU for that part so I'm afraid I don't know. Just though I should let you all know. |

www.ATIC.ca This is what I received from them: (They are based out of Vancouver canada) "This card is shipping, it was SUPPOSED to arrive on Friday, but there is still no sign of it yet. ATI Radeon 8500 64MB AGP4X : $420.00 + Taxes ($478.80)" The funny thing is that this company deals in wholesale prices. There card is more expense then anyone.  |

EBworld is sticking to their 10/17 date and Ingram Micro (large distributor in the US sells to wal-mart eb and many others) still say 10/14 is the date they will recieve them. Hopefully that will change now that the cards are "oficially" shipping

Yeah, stay away.. I am in Vancouver too, I bought a chunk of supposidly 133mhz sdram at one time, and found out later it was only 100mhz. They wouldn't refund or exchange the unit becasue I might have "installed" it(And by later I mean 1 day later after running a ram id check program when my box wouldn't post at 133)...Stick with NCIX/Netlink, they are only 10 minutes down the road from atic, and they are only 1-2% higher (And if you pay by credit card at atic, they tack on 2.5% anyways)...... Another time, I needed a 30g HD from them, they were sitting behind the counter, but not recieved into inventory. They told me to come back tommorow because they weren't going to recieve them for me..That's when I found Netlink.. and never went back to Atic. |

ATIC I think the worst part is when the lady yells at you because you are fumbling a bit for the specs when purchasing. Then she turns and yells "Willie, MAXTOR 40GIG, ... How you pay?" at the top of her lungs. |

wow that guy answered me pretty quickly at 1:50 am mst Anounce and ship today! There was an issue with a CD delay for packing. That is why they has been delay for a week. As soon we get it in we will ship out to everyone. Thanks, ENPC.COM

Hehe who needs a CD anyways? I remember someone telling me not to let the original Radeon driver cd so much as TOUCH my CDROM drive... that's how bad it was...

I justed checked my hotmail account and got a message from Dell telling me that my order was delayed to the 30th of this month. I orginally had a 10/9 shipping date. No big deal, I have a feeling that I'll see the card by then end of next week  .Scott |

R8500 is available in limited quantities in one DIY shop in Singapore. Going for S$638 = US$350+. I decided to wait for the local distributor to bring it in. |

Uggghhhhh...well i just checked EBs website..and they have bumped it back..AGAIN. Now it says 10/27/01. Look..im as loyal an ATI guy as you will ever see...however im getting real sick of this "dangling carrot" that ive been waiting for..everytime i get close to a date it gets yanked back again.

That really doesn't look good. We thought that dell saying "Deifinitely not shipping cards until the 26th" was just standard dell customer service speak. But now seeing EB push back to then, it is seeming more true. |

Yeah it doesnt look good. I tell ya, I still love my Radeon, and am starting to wonder if I should just take my coins and get a beefier Mobo/Processor combo instead..theres no delays/shortage/waiting on those. My Athlon 900 is a great machine..but for the same 300 bucks of a new card i could get a decent newer faster Athlon. This is just soo frustrating..i really want 8500..but how long does one wait before frustration overweighs the possible down the road enjoyment? If 10/27/01 is not final...Ill just get something else i think.

I personally think its kind of shi**y on ATI's part for not even throwing us a bone. Not one official word on when or why. They need to at lease be honest about it and not leave it up to speculation. If they really want a leg up on the competition they need to focus on those who are supporting them from the begining, us. Weve spent money on a product thats not even out yet with no official word on performance and they cant even tell us when were going to get it? Somethings wrong there. Now before you flame the hell out of me understand that I still got my 8500 on order and have an incredible amount of faith in the card and company. Objectivness leads to improvement.

unfortunately companies like to use the word released and shipping vaguely. Released means it is available. Shipping means that it is on it's way to retailers or consumers. Since there are no official reviews, I honestly do not believe for one minute that the card is shipping at all. usually hardware sites have final cards 1 or 2 weeks before they are available and we have not had one review at all not a single one. |

I think we are going to need therapy.. lol I remember feeling the same way last christmas on the ps2 ign boards. I was going crazy with everyone else there trying to get a ps2 for 300 bucks and not 500. Luckily, I got one.. Hmm, maybe I will go play some SSX now to pass the time |

Best Buy here in Herndon, Virginia has a spot on their shelf for it, as well as a spot for the Visiontek GF3 Ti 500(which they're gonna sell for $349). They've got the price label and everything. But no cards. I checked with the guys there, and none arrived on the truck. GRRRRRRR!!!! Why must they tease like that?!?! Nazgul
