Playstation Official Mag Last Issue

Future US confirmed today it will end production of PlayStation: The Official Magazine with the last issue slated for the Holiday 2012 issue.

Is this the mag that included those PS demo discs back in the day? I really liked those discs. There was some multiplayer game my friends and I played the demo to death on.

Edit: I was thinking of the "Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine" which was shutdown in 2007

I guess this leaves Game Informer, EGM, and PC Gamer on most newsstands here in the U.S. It's a sad end of an era, and I'm sure those three that I listed will also be gone within the next several years.

Game Informer has a different business model, since its bundled for free with the gamestop discount cards.

Maybe thats part of the reason why those other magazines just cannot compete anymore... they are getting out-dealt by GameStop/Game Informer offering that discount card on used games.

Its not that Nintendo Power or the Sony Playstation Official magazines were probably not so profitable but when they saw the numbers and (yeah the interwebz is a bit of a factor too) the ratio of people reading Game Informer must be through the roof.
