![]() Dragon Age was also in development for five years. That being said, after the crapfest that was Dead Space 3, Bioware is the only dev I trust to deliver now under the EA logo. |

The problem is that Bethesda has no real competition, so there is no herd to be apart from. I would love for some black sheep dev team to produce a bad ass version of skyrim like the vision its mod community has (hopefully that is what witcher 3 will kind of be). Its the same for the total war series, if someone came a made an awesome black sheep version similar to what some of the mods out there attempt to do, and innovated on all the crappy things that they have every game that dont work well or that are broken, it would blow Creative Assembly away. |

![]() I remember being really bored with DA: Origins by the half way point. Just made me long for Baldur's Gate, which I thought DA was just trying to emulate. Just didn't have the same charm as those old D&D RPGs. |

![]() Cant really blame them. Despite the fact w2 was one the best games in the last couple years and it sold decently well they had to heavily discount it to sell the volume they did(let alone how much is ripped off, it was pirated to hell and back) As long as they keep making quality pc stuff and dont sell there soul im ok with that. |

I think partly because of the started up and then scrapped attempt to bring the first game over to console, just the combat system alone would be tricky to map to a controller. Think the fact that you cant drink pots in combat, and instead have to predict the future and drink short duration pots pre-emptively has to do with button mappings, for example. Though W2 came though fairly unscathed and was still an awesome game. And the new consoles are essentially PCs anyway with a decent chunk of memory, so there is probably not much in the way of content constraints or too much "port" hastle..

I don't think not being able to drink potions during battle is related to gamepad limitations. In the books, Geralt always had to drink potions before battle, and never during, so this change brings it in line with the books. It really makes you pay attention to your surroundings for the little clues on what you might run into. Reading the various books in the game also gives you good clues on what you might find in your travels, they often describe the kind of areas a particular creature likes. For me this change is actually much deeper and complex then it was in Witcher 1. Plus if controller limitations was really the reason, they could have just put Potions into the radial like they did with signs and throwing weapons/bombs/traps, which also makes me believe that the potion change had nothing to do with gamepad.

![]() I have tried to get used to gamepads but I just can't no matter how much I try. They are great for beat em ups (dpad), platformers and racing games if you don't have a wheel but for me at least I just cannot play a fps or even 3rd person shooter properly with decent accuracy without a keyboard and mouse. |

They got a port out of the second game reasonably fast. So they had the intention of launching on console late cycle on the first game, which means they made the second game with those same intentions and the knowledge of what the problems were porting the first one. They did know before hand, or early on that they were going to ship the second game on consoles, is what Im getting at here. Which means that Witcher 3 doesnt have to suck just because they´ve announced console plans, cause that wasnt true for the second game.. (which was what I was originally responding to)

![]() I am really hoping they do a good job on the side quests in W3 like they did with W2. I remember the first side quest that I started on, it was one that I found by accident, came upon a place that was once a prison but was in ruins and some guys told me that their friend is lost in the old prison, this was in chapter 1. Not going to spoil it, but this little side quest story line was fantastic, and had 2 different endings to it depending on the choice you make at the end. The whole place was creepy as well. Some side quests in W2 were run of the mill, but there were lots that had fantastic stories to them and even had choices to make that effects the outcome. Hope they keep doing that in W3.
