Ah fsr yeah I'm not running it at all. Don't like the horrid sharpening artifacts. Normally get about 70 fps or so but did the burning mission and frames tanked a bit into the mid 50s

So what's the best settings for this game? Do I need to enable Fidelity CAS some crap and FSR?

There is hardly any discussions or topics about this but so far from testing, I found the following:


- Resolution Scaling and SMAA: Ok performance but aliasing and shimmering exist. I didn't like this setup.
- Resolution Scaling and TAA: Cleanest image but also blurry and least sharp. Even with Fidelity CAS enabled didn't do anything.
- FSR Ultra Quality: Best performance, sharpest image but has artifacts around the edges that can be annoying if you focus on them. This still, imo, produced the best image vs aliasing solution.
- I kept Fidelity CAS always enabled as disabling it produced almost no noticeable difference.


Overall, game needs DLSS.

Based on this I am using the best settings then on both my 3090 and 3070.

Can't say i've noticed any shimmering or blurriness . I'll assume the texture pack is enabled?

Oh yes I am using the HD Texture Pack. Also, maybe even without it, if you try FSR and then have it off, you can see the difference in sharpness.

The flashlight appeared all of a sudden when I went in dark underground passages in the Old Pueblo district of Esperanza. But it's automatic. You can't use it when you want. I wonder if it comes on in any other places, if anyone knows.

I didn't make this up because of my avatar pic. But some may think so because after several google searches I can't find anything on the net about an automatic flashlight, regular flashlight, headlamp or personal light like a flashlight in the game.

I use different names for other forums to help prevent people from saying "oh there's the same idiot posting minutia over there." Not that it works well. And not upset at you, I'm surprised I haven't seen it brought up before for my posts. But then again I often don't read replies to my posts on the net if I think I've posted something annoying.

In addendum i turned off the in game overlays and frame rate was more stable.

Does the Ubi warning still come up each time for not having the in game overlays enabled? You can click off the message every time I think but it's an extra step to do when launching.

Just did it, best thing is you can launch directly from Ubi launcher even if you buy from Epic store.

at 4K with the HD pack installed, it is showing just under 7GB of video memory used for me...am I doing something wrong if the game says I need 11GB for the HD pack?

I dont think we need feedback at all. Look at any of the last 3 far crys, change the local and this is what you got here. If you liked the last you will like this one.



Fortunately for me I like the cookie cutter nature of the Far Cry games so it works out perfect for me.

Btw the FSR in this game looks like dog shite. Water in the distance looks like it has turds floating all over it. I turned it off. I think just use CAS FX and completely disable FSR for a good time.

Game is fun but I think UBI really did a 1UP on the AI this time. It is dumb af. Like they are just standing around while you do kill after kill. I am not sure if I will continue to enjoy killing off so many dumb shits. Also the AI keeps respawning wherever tf they want. Like you go through a base and be like I cleared the crap but then it starts showing 2 more red dots in the same area and you are like wtf is this?

Still game is fun. But be prepared to feel like you got ripped off. I didn’t because AMD already ripped me off with a 5900X before I got the game.

yeah the A.I. or better the missing A.I. was a big turnoff for me. Jesus Christ, they somehow managed to make the NPCs completely braindead in this one. The rest was the typical run 'n gun (as we all know from the other parts), uninspired quests (as we all know from the other parts), some more or less hilarious bugs (as we all know from the other parts), completely unnecessary torture-parts and a nice graphic (as we all know from the other parts). All in all a VERY mixed bag.

as usual, that's just my personal view on it (although most tests came to a very similar conclusion)

I spent alot of time with all the Far Crys -- last couple years Far Cry 5 and New Dawn. Far Cry 6 has some improvements -- graphically and with gameplay but like logical said, its arguably the same Far Cry recipe. I was actually expecting more TBH, spending $79 CAD 3-4 years after the last installment was a bit disappointing. AI seems worse than ever? maybe just me.

I need to give it some more time but after a couple hours -- its same same but different.

FSR looks awful in FC6, it seems to be catered towards those who REALLY like image sharpening.

I'm only about 10 hours in, but this feels like the most forgettable Far Cry yet.

It's like they took FC5, sucked the soul out of it, and injected it with a bunch of bloated mechanics and an overly large map. There have been a couple cool moments here and there, but most of the time I've been bored out of my mind. The RPG mechanics (from the leveled enemies to gear/loot) feel like contrived bullshit and the enemy respawn rate is the worst I have ever seen it, bar none (and that's saying a lot considering how bad previous FC games have been about this). Enemy soldiers will literally respawn behind you within ~5 seconds if you kill a patrol and start to sprint away. It's a whole new level of bad and almost singlehandedly destroys the immersion.

FC5 just felt so much more focused and interesting to me, and I also preferred its villain (the Seed family was awesome, and Joseph Seed was a fascinating character). This game feels like it's trying to do/be too many things at once, and it sucks at almost all of them. It feels like Ubisoft were at their wit's end after FC5 and New Dawn and didn't know what the hell to do, so they decided to cram as much as they possibly could into a single game without any clear vision. It's essentially a "Greatest Hits" collection of all the worst aspects of Ubisoft's recent games. FFS, the minimap even has Ghost Recon-esque heat zones showing you the exact location of nearby soldiers!

I'll push on and see if I can force myself to finish it (or even come close to it), but I can already tell it's going to be one hell of a repetitive slog.

I really hope this isn't what we can expect from future Far Cry titles. If they're going to go the Assassin's Creed route with a full-on RPG transformation and stupidly large maps littered with filler, I am officially done with this franchise.
