It feels like Ubisoft were at their wit's end after FC5 and New Dawn and didn't know what the hell to do, so they decided to cram as much as they possibly could into a single game without any clear vision. It's essentially a "Greatest Hits" collection of all the worst aspects of Ubisoft's recent games. FFS, the minimap even has Ghost Recon-esque heat zones showing you the exact location of nearby soldiers!

I'll push on and see if I can force myself to finish it (or even come close to it), but I can already tell it's going to be one hell of a repetitive slog.

I really hope this isn't what we can expect from future Far Cry titles. If they're going to go the Assassin's Creed route with a full-on RPG transformation and stupidly large maps littered with filler, I am officially done with this franchise.

Oh, the remake of far cry 2 came out? Nice.

To me it's the other way around. FC5's "plot" was absurd and the game was totally forgettable compared to FC3 & 4.

I thought FC5 had worse spawning, unless you avoided the roads, you had to fight rednecks 24/7.

6 has plenty of soldiers, but their default behavior isn't kill on sight, so it does not feel as annoying as 5.

It would be hard to beat Far Cry 2's enemy respawn (where you clear area A and move forward and start sniping area B and as you're doing that, respawned enemies from A attack you from behind), but it sounds like FC6 gives it a run for its money. I could use my 100 Uplay points to get a discount, or I can let them expire (any day now) and wait for this to go on sale for $30 Ultimate like I did with FC4 and FC5.

No, the enemies in 6 behaves like the ones in Assassins Creed titles, they will not engage you unless you provoke them or if you are in a restricted area.

So it is nothing like FC2.

To me it went downhill after 3. 4 was ok, couldn’t get through primal and 5 was meh. I’ll probably play this when it’s $10 - $15

Far Cry 1. I played the hell out of it. I still revisit it for a playthrough every couple years.
Far Cry 2. Put a bunch of hours into it, tried desperately to get into it, but just never really clicked... a bit too open-ended, and I get lost and can't figure out where to go or what's the point.
Far Cry 3. I've started it bunches of times, but can't really get into it. There's a bunch of early missions where you're collecting flowers and hunting pigs, and it's just too boring so I never stick with it.
Far Cry 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... 100. Basically the same as Assassins Creed sequels, where I kindof intend to get to them eventually, but deep down I know I never will.

I really like the open-ended gameplay from Far Cry 1 & Crysis. They should make more games like that.

But you said #2 was too open ended yet you like open ended. I was open confused.

But games can definitely be too open-ended. I really struggle with open-world games where the entire game is one giant level with very little direction for what I'm supposed to do. I've never been able to dig into elder scrolls, etc., for that reason.

I don’t think Far Cry games can give any more direction than what they already do. Next up they will add tracer bullets so you just walk in and press left mouse click and everyone dies.

Btw Far Cry already has auto drive to destination feature and tons of fast travel options.

The issue is, it LOOKS open ended, but it isnt. If you go outside of the mission zones the entire load of enemies will respawn, forcing you to actually stay pretty close to your target.

Honestly, i was really bother by the fact that it had nothing to do with far cry at all at first, and i god damn hated the enemy spawn issue, otherwise i think it may be the best far cry game outside blood dragon. Definitelyworth a play through.

Also omg play Blood Dragon. Its smaller than any of the other far cry games, maybe as small as the original, and its damn fun. Plus its probably the closest to the original in its 80s movie vibe and monsters.

This doesn't mesh at all with my memory of the game. At least half the time I was driving around randomly trying to find gems. Yes, there were confrontations but there were also many dead bad guys. They seemed about the same rate and power of the bad guys between mission points.

Agree about Blood Dragon though. Very enjoyable. Has jokes.

Far cry 2 had diamonds, which were collectables like todays far cry/ass creed games have. Except they were usable in game as currency. I wasnt really talking about that, rather than the main playthrough of the game.

All the enemies in far cry 2 were same "power" far cry didnt have level up mechanics yet at this point. The difficulty was which weapons they were carrying.

Respawn is a major gripe for me. I remember the early Far Cry, can’t remember which one exactly but it just ruined it for me.
