Given that they have been caught a few times harrassing people in the physical world, i really doubt it will. Take two may not be quite as scummy as some of the other publishers, but they are definitely the shady gangster cousin. Not in a goode way.

But that fog re-add is killer. All 3 games imho look stupid without proper fog.

Epic store is one thing, but at least their exclusives come to Steam after a year (or whatever the contract says). Now they have their own storefront (that is somehow worse than Epic in terms of functionality), they may never do Steam for new games again... just speculating

Exactly. I will accept a launcher, but I'm not about to use yet another store for just a single game. In that sense, I think Ubisoft, Epic and even EA did very well to allow people to build a library with free games. Feels much less odd to have a store program installed for 10 games, than for just the one.

Started playing GTA SA on the box. Game seems to be running fine and haven’t come across any bugs yet. Graphics are better and apart from cartoony faces and some areas around faces being too dark, the game seems to be running fine. Did maybe 6-7 early game missions.

I applaud them. Why use a middleman like Steam to sell your own game?

The 'I want all my games on Steam crowd' has to wake up sooner or later.

Having said that I think I will leave these games in the past and not ruin my great memories of them by getting this remastered garbage just like I did with Mass Effect Remastered.

There are too many things cut from the GTA games as I remember them such as Auntie Poulet's/ Robina's dialogue ,many songs and even 'offensive' T Shirts from NPC'S. Then there is the weird look and feel of the new games.

Like I said sooner or later you all will have to accept the fact that having one or two or even three launchers to cover all the games you want will be impossible.

Launchers may make sense for publishers like Ubi and Activision, but Rockstar only releases a game every few years.

Doesn't seem like a good strategy to force potential costumers to download the launcher just to play a game that they will properly uninstall in a month or two.

Plus on the console side, Sony and MS already has a monopoly on their digital game storefronts, so players there don't have the inconvenience of launchers.


Take 2 still doesn't even have their own launcher

There’s been a fair bit of controversy surrounding alternate launchers for the PC gaming market of late. We have Epic Games Store soliciting exclusives, we have companies like Discord with their own games launchers and stores, while publishers like Bethesda and Activision are moving their games away from Steam to their own in house launchers.

Given that Take-Two Interactive has some of the biggest and most popular games on the market thanks to Red Dead and Grand Theft Auto, would we expect them to follow in these footsteps? Would they, too, have their own PC gaming launcher, so they don’t have to split revenue with Valve or Epic or whoever? According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, the answer is a resounding no. Speaking to GamesIndustry, Zelnick said that a “captive” retail business is not in line with Take-Two’s strategy.

“That’s not how consumers shop,” he said. “To use an analogy that doesn’t speak to our business, if you read Random House books, I presume you can get them directly through Random House, but you probably don’t. You probably go to Amazon or other sites. So if you have something incredibly powerful, then I suppose you can say to consumers that it’s only available here. But generally speaking, when it comes to broad-based entertainment offerings, you are better placed to be where the consumer is, rather than indicating to the consumer where they need to be. If your focus is solely on capturing retail margin, then you have to be very convinced you’re going to be a great retailer. That’s not something that’s in our DNA. We make entertainment. We’re really not a retailer.”

peaking specifically about the Epic Games Store, he was noncommittal, noting that his company was more interested in being wherever the customer ends up being, whether that happens to be the Epic Games Store, or otherwise.

“From our point of view, we don’t see another retailer as a disruption,” said Zelnick. “We want to be where the consumer is, and if there’s a competitive offering that benefits consumers, generally speaking, if the business model makes sense for us, we will support it. We want to be where the consumer is. We see competition on the retail side to be a good thing. It just means more distribution.”

It’s honestly the smartest thing to do—keep your options open, don’t rule anything out, and don’t risk alienating a large market by putting your games on your own launcher. Fans of Take-Two’s PC franchises such as Civilization or XCOM have nothing to fear, it seems.

Like I said, I'm fine with that, and I'll decide for myself when and where to buy. I'm not the one trying to sell a product. More and more companies are realizing it's best if they're where the customer is, instead of asking the customer to take a specific route. I've already got my library split across PSN, GoG, Steam, Epic, Origin and I add a gamepass to that every now and then, so I'm not being overly anal about this. But each of these stores had to work for it, and, to circle way back to the point, a broken remaster of 20 year old games doesn't cut it.
