Default Removing old Nvidia registry and drivers prior to installing an 8500???

I am about to remove my Gainward GF3 and install my new retail 8500. I am running WinXp and have two choices. First, I can take the safe route and reformat the hdd and clean install XP again. Second, I can uninstall the Nvidia driver from the control panel and delete the entries for the GF3 in the registry. Is it going to compromise my performance if I simply delete all remnants of the Nvidia card in WinXP and install the 8500??? If not, how do I ensure that all traces of the Nvidia drivers and registry entries are in fact fully deleted??? Thanks for your help.

uninstall, and try to run the 8500 to see what happens. If everything is a-ok with you, then leave it, if not, then reformat.
