Don't know, don't care.

I just want CDPR to come out of this ahead but so far the deck is stacked against them.

Hackers have reportedly sold the game source code and other information stolen from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 studio CD Projekt Red (CDPR). Cybersecurity firm Kela released screenshots of a post on the hacking forum Exploit allegedly posted by the attackers, saying that they’ve received an offer for the data from outside the forum. They added that they ended the auction at the request of the buyer. Cybersecurity Twitter account vx-underground subsequently confirmed that the auction had closed.

[...]

It is not known who purchased the data or how much it was sold for. However, the auction was thought to have included source code for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales spinoff, The Witcher 3, a ray-traced version of The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and copies of the company’s internal documents. That’s according to screenshots posted by vx-underground. The auction followed a leak of the source code for CD Projekt Red’s virtual card game Gwent, which was verified by Vice.

Kela previously reported that the starting price for the auction was $1 million, with a buy-it-now price of $7 million. These terms were subsequently verified by vx-underground, too.

7 million for a card game, a graphics update, and a broke as **** game seems steep.

What is there really to be done with the witcher? Make a game and try to pass it off somehow?

Someone wanted that code really bad. You can buy a lot for $7 million. Even a $7 million car would seem to be a better investment than that.

Recent update from the devs indicate this hacking will affect short-term support of the game . Guess that means we probably won't see a substantial patch as expected?

Where is this coming from? CDP stated no evidence of personal data being stolen.

This is the second time I've seen claims of this without any source.

-Edit-

Did some research. A journalist made some unsupported claim and an ex employee assumes a loan attempt can only be related to the hack.

$7 million is a lot of money and it is questionable if they will ever regain that investment in forms of blackmail from hacked computers through CP2077. Also the more blackmail they do, the more exposure they have increasing the probability that they get caught. It's almost like there is another agenda other than money here. Maybe it was CDPR themselves buying back their own code.

That's weird, usually loans are not in any employer data base but in the data bases of the banks where they have their loans. Unless they borrowed money from CDPR, but who loans money from their employer? Or am I completely misunderstanding this?

If you have someone’s personal details you can apply for a loan and intercept the comms and paperwork and then monies, this will be the outcome of PII being held and then stolen. They had to disclose the impacts and hack within a tight timeframe due to GDPR or they will face heavy penalties based on a % of their turnover on top of the loss due to the theft.

CPDR database holds information of employees(social security numbers, addresses) and thats about all you really need to apply for a loan here in the US. Im assuming the former employee is saying a hacker did that.

But I think that claim is probably BS and hes trying to get some compensation out of it. Ive never heard of hackers applying for loans lmao.

The whole thing hinges on a reporter claiming data was stolen although CDP says no evidence and this guy on twitter.

Whelp, back to the game. Got to the Oda fight... Averaging 45 FPS throughout the game, the frame rate seemed to drop to sub-30 during this for no discernible reason.

Got my rear handed to me several times in a row in short order, and for the first time the game seemed like it was trying to challenge me.

I ended up jumping into the scaffolding above, and he got stuck on another piece of scaffolding; an invisible wall preventing him from falling unintentionally turned him into a running-in-place bullet sponge. When incapacitated, he lay in mid air, making it near impossible for me to loot. The double-tap to dodge f**ked me a few times as I tried to get as close to the edge as I could.

Glad that's over. Should be done with the other main questlines by the end of the long weekend.

Most of my deaths when I played were cheap deaths, like I'd be too close to one of those insta-death explosive barrels or whatever they were. Those things killed you even if you had the perk that is supposed to make you immune to explosives. I died so many times to those exploding, most of the time I didn't even see them. Otherwise, the game wasn't too hard.
