Yes what a sham. Really bought into the hype. BTC, Moderna, PayPal, Disney and Coin are my weakest investments (lost money). Could’ve done well spending this money on FANMAG for stability of growth.

Go ahead and liquidate now for a loss or hold on and see what happens. Same as any other volatile investment option. This shouldn't really be a big surprise, this market (and the stock market) have been overdue for a nice selloff anyway.

ethereum is trying to go proof of stake that is not as much GPU dependent for the environment

much bigger profit margins than they can get from gamers

Well that's why Nvidia is making low has rate cards, and pushing miners to their "mining cards".

AMD isn't even trying to stop Miners even on their gaming cards, welcoming them with open arms.

AMD cards have about half the hash rate of NV cards
mining doesn't like the infinity cache and smaller memory bus

so they don't really have to do anything

This is true up to a point. 62MH out of a $1300 6800 isn't necessarily all that far off from what you get out of a 3000 series LHR card right now for similar money. Sure you can get double that out of a 3090 but unless you get an FE you're paying $1900+. Also the power consumption per MH on the Nvidia stuff isn't really that much better either.

Market is in a big selloff right now and I hope it totally tanks. I would love to get some nice rewards the last 5 months of mining. We could use a huge selloff so the network hash rate finally takes a dip the other direction.

The best mining cards right now are 3070 and maybe AMD 5700. A 3070 FHR at 1000 bucks mines at 60-62 MH/s and the 5700 at about 700 can mine up to 52-54 MH/s. Both at about 120 watts or so. Again talking about price perf ratio and not perf per watt ratio.

True but a 3060ti does it the same as a 3070 but for a few less $$$ and a few less watts.

LHR? Who buys that crap! None of my cards are LHR. The original 3060ti and 3070 had same Hashrate. Approx 62mh/s for eth. 3060ti just cost less and needed a tad less power.

I did that. Lost 6K on 15K.

I can grab a 3070 FHR new for about 1250 and used at about 950-1000.

Basic MO for investing in anything. Including equities. If you can get in low and sell high then it dives buy back in for more if it looks like it will go up again.

Affirm, just going to continue to get worse. Nobody knows for sure how much of it is ASIC coming online now from preorders late last year or just more people buying GPUs. I know there are plenty of people on the eth mining subreddit that are continuing to dump tons of money into mining rigs. Why I have no idea. I think they're taking a foolish risk.

I'm in this until the wheels fall off the eth gravy train. After that the plan is to keep at least one of the two rigs together and maybe mothball it. The other rig is most likely going to be pulled apart and sold off for whatever I can get out of it.

I'll keep mining until all the 30series cards die or are useless. FYI I can now confirm VRAM degradation for DDR6X. 3080 and two 3090s have suffered badly and I keep having to lower the overclock on VRAM. Coincidentally 2 Asus Strix 3090 still solid and haven't crashed for a year. One EVGA ftw3 gaming zomg 3090 is fine as well. The 3080 EVGA ftw3 zomg edition VRAM slowly dying. All the 3060ti/70 are cool and fine all year since it's just DDR6.

Anyways, love the down times the best as that's where I make the most profits in the long run.

I think all the new ASICs mining eth are killing the profits

I know if they run at 110'c non stop, the cards will just literally die and stop working.

GDDR6X is rated for 110C max I believe. The Asus runs like 90c the EVGA sameish. The Gigabyte eagle runs as hot as the sun even if you put custom pads. It constantly throttles still. Was just a matter of time before degrading. Same with 2 other cards. Only other time I experienced degrading silicon was my i5 2500k.. ran perfect for years and then all of a sudden had to keep lowering the overclock to avoid PC probs. It was expected.

GDDR6X is fantastic fast but such a huge pita to deal with for mining applications. Half the cards have to be torn apart and get new thermal pads. Meh. At least with my AMD stuff the memory usually never pushes 70c and it just runs and runs never degrades.

I'm sure some of the difficulty increase is still due to miners using GPUs. I keep seeing people constantly buying more rigs and putting them on the network. It's insane with the merge coming up. I honestly think these people are morons. If the merge actually does happen, and it just may this time around, then they are screwed.

GPU resell value will swirl down the toilet bowl. ROI won't be possible for the ridiculous prices people are paying to get in now. They're just gonna lose money. Other coins will not be profitable without free power.

Trust me it's mostly ASICS. The sheer quantity and power of them where you need like 40x 3080s to equal one.

Also, many profitable coins to mine. Sure once the hashpower from ethereum goes to them profitability will tank. I figure many will leave and it should balance out again.

Plain GDDR6 on 3060ti/70 runs cool. No degradation. Never had a crash

Payouts are down a lot. I am talking cold BTC (not $). I think it might be a good time to sell out the cards while they still have some value.
