Default Recommend me a LCD monitor / speaker combo

I refuse to play the Bioshock demo before I have a better set-up (currently have a crappy 20 inch TV). I was looking to get a new monitor and some low price speakers for around $250-300 total. Any recommendations? The monitor doesn't have to be uber big as it is for my bedroom. Thanks + rep

Naa, you just run from your PC to the back of the speakers (sub actually) for sound...If I got what you are saying....

Obviously I can get you a bigger monitor and/or a 5.1 setup for your upper limit....

I will PC-less, so the Xbox/monitor/speaker combo will be a stand-alone unit. And yes, bigger monitor / smaller speakers would be good. Hell, i'm happy with headphones tbh

Check the connections on the unit.. I just ran straight from my PC to the speakers. I think there is an optical and rca input on the back....

hmmm.... quick question: monitors with built in speakers -- would they work with the 360 independently of a computer?

I don't think so since they didn't work on my FP 7317 nor my new monitor.

I don't know why not. Maybe not as loud I suppose if they don't have some sort of amp associated with them. The 360 VGA cable comes with a RCA splitter to turn it into a regular stereo speaker plug.

Those are Logitech z5300e THX certified speakers for $85 after rebate and the Samsung 22 inch Widescreen 226BW monitor for $299 after rebate.

Edit: OK fully read your whole post so these may be out of your range, but might as well check em out anyways!

19" wide are small. I have a Dell 2007WFP 20" and Logitech X-230 and its great with my XBOX360. Here are 3 Dell LCDs 20-22" the 2007wfp has better color and viewing angles.

I personally wouldn't go for anything less than a 24" LCD. Dell make some pretty good ones for the price. 1900 x 1200 res.

Never skimp on the monitor. It's the most important componant IMO.

As far as speakers you could look at logitech 5500s which are good for other audio sources like consoles thanks to their inbuilt DTS and DD decoder.
