Thumbs down Maid ran away...

Stupid bitch. There goes my $4,500. And just in time too when the frickin' 3 month guarantee expires. Left her passport and visa and labour card. Don't know wtf her plan is to get out of country but guess, will be spending some time at a police station tonight. Fun times...

Fark!

And before you throw the poor treatment clauses, she was treated like a member of the house with sufficient food, sleeping space, dedicated facilities, more food, cell phone and despite her stealing food we kept on requesting her to ask for whatever she likes to eat from us. Also she had literally only 4 hours a day of work and rest just chilling out time.

What a load of ****! My only gripe is the poor return on investment and a hysterical wife .
Thank to heavens jewelery, cash, valuables are safe.

Well, to add insult to the injury, since I am the sponsor of her visa; if she does anything illegal I get fined for as high as 40,800 USD.

Every time I read your posts I feel more and more like I failed at life.

First threads about wanting to buy Ferraris and now threads about maids running away.

In other news I am looking at a house today. It's a 1500sq ft 3 bed/2 bath tri-level that is pretty old and needs a bunch of work. It's all I can afford. *sigh*

First world problems. As poor as you may feel you live a great life compared to 90% of the world especially if you can buy a house.

Well you did survive nearly dying from a disease that most children recover from using nothing more than Ginger Ale and chicken soup That's not quite win, but definitely unfail.

Human Trafficking & Modern-day Slavery

Quote:
Saudi Arabia is a destination country for men and women trafficked for the purposes of involuntary servitude and, to a lesser extent, commercial sexual exploitation. Men and women from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sudan, Ethiopia, and many other countries voluntarily travel to Saudi Arabia as domestic servants or other low-skilled laborers, but some subsequently face conditions indicative of involuntary servitude, including restrictions on movement, withholding of passports, threats, physical or sexual abuse, and non-payment of wages. Women, primarily from Asian and African countries are also believed to have been trafficked into Saudi Arabia for commercial sexual exploitation; others were reportedly kidnapped and forced into prostitution after running away from abusive employers.
Realistically, you can't keep em physically chained up all day. How would they clean?

Instead you hold their documents knowing that if they run away they're pretty much dead.

Some nice questions here.
a) Documents were with me because she was being treated for syphillis. I kept the documents so that we can help get her the mandatory injections etc without me having to remember to take the documents. Plus she always knew that documents were in my bag, funny thing is I was at the office so she went away without documents. Which is quite a stupid move. Don't know wtf she was thinking...

b) Yes, I have filed a missing person report tonight to absolve of responsibility. Took me about 2 hours to tell the whole story. Tomorrow, I will go to immigration to report that she ran away. Fun times.

c) I have a living space of 2 bedrooms + 3 facilities so plenty of space available for another person. My apartment is 1600 sq ft. There is enough room for 3 adults and 1 kid in the house. We need a maid, because we could afford one. In Pakistan, we have had maids since forever, so it is not a luxury but a necessity from our point of view.

d) Random comments about overwork etc. Just few words, read OP. It says clearly how much work was in the house and she always had an option for a day off. She didn't take it because she would get bored out of her mind.
