Yeah. The back end of the series was a real slog for me, in the end I just got so bored of the meandering I gave up and read Hitchhikers again.

You are doing yourself a real disservice by not finishing. In my opinion it is one of the best of the series

The first three books are pure awesomeness IMO. The fourth...well, it's definitely in a different style than the first three, so I can see why some don't like it, but I enjoyed reading about Roland's earlier days, wish there was more of it.

The last three books...I enjoyed them, but I felt they spent too much time in the "real" world and not enough time in Roland's. The real world is boring! I like catching references to King's other works, he does this all the time, but it did get pretty heavy-handed in the Tower series. I liked the series ending, personally. Definitely unexpected, but it left me content, if not exactly satisfied.
