ASUS Q-Fan. Anyone familiar ?

My CPU fan is quite noisy from some unknown reason.

Anyway, I wanted to start using my ASUS motherboard Q-Fan feature, but it requires me to set the ratio parameter (11/16, 12/16, ..., 15/16), and I don't know what value I should use.

Is anyone using it ? what is the required value for my system configuratiion ?

And above all, is it recommended to enable the Q-Fan feature ?

I always use Q-Fan it works great for me.
The ratio parameter works like this...
Lets say your fans normal operating RPM is 4000.
Using the 10/15 setting you get->

10/15 = 0.667
0.667 x 4000 = 2668

So 2668 is the speed the fan will run at until your CPU temperature reaches 50c, after that it will ramp up to full speed.

I would start out using 10/15 and change it to 11 or 12/15 if the fan can't keep your cpu below 50c when not under a load.

I set it to the default 11/16 and now the cpu is at 38 (when not loaded) while the fan is rotating at 2200.

The noise was dramatically reduced and its great.

Should I keep those settings ?
