ATI Technologies Rage3D HIS X800GTO IceQII Turbo Review

I've just published my review of HIS' X800GTO IceQII Turbo graphics card. Check it out here.
With the cooler providing an extra boost in cooling power, HIS also includes a simple application to provide an extra boost in performance. The application is known as iTurbo, and it comes with the bundle on its own CD. Once installed, iTurbo overclocks the X800GTO from 400/490 to 500/500 at the push of a button.
Anyone looking for a GTO should check this one out, it's overclocks like crazy.

I'm still amazed at how much better this format is that anything else out there. Nice review - the GTO looks like a great mid-range card. Would have been nice if you had an X1600 in there for comparison.

Yet another excellent review, Mark. Big

HIS coolers. Nice to see such an all-around aggressive sku in the market. Great price, great bundle, great non-reference cooler, great performance - best card in its class IMHO.

Default Excellent!

excellent review. I'd like to see a link to details of what services & hardware devices you disabled for your test install, though.

And on page 9 " 6800 winning in cases where NVIDIA's architecture is traditionally favorer" should read " 6800 winning in cases where NVIDIA's architecture is traditionally favored"

Don't know about calling an A64 3500+ 'aging' though... I consider it to be a good performance part. Good match for the cards on test, really.

Any particular reason you didn't try and flash this card? Didn't want to buy it if it went wrong??
Additionally, did you detail what the warranty was and I missed it? As you reference it when talking about iTurbo, I'd like to have seen what the level was, especially with the recent ATI announcement of reduced BBA warranty.

I disabled the big ones like the WinXP theme engine and all the services not necessary for operation (remote access, system recovery, etc). The only service I left running that I used to shut off is the networking stuff. I left it on for 2 reasons: 1) all systems these days have networking enabled, it's almost a requirement 2) I need network access for my benchmark scripts/utilities so I can gather the results without having to interupt the benchmark machine (it stores results on my dev box).

I didn't flash it simply because I didn't have time to try. I started benchmarking the next review card (I'm under NDA for it) while I was still uploading the GTO review and while trying to rebuild the wall in my shed

Very nice review
Would've been nice though if you had included a X800XT/X850XT for comparison.

You don't need 50 hour days - just more of them
