AMD AMD Vishera - FX 8350 Performance Review

The second generation FX processor is here, based on the new improved microarchitecture Piledriver and in four module, eight core format. Does it deliver the promised 15% increase over last years FX? Can it compete with the Intel Core i-series? How does it overclock? Worth upgrading from a Phenom II? All these questions are answered in our performance review of the AMD FX-8350

I keep looking for a review with minimum stable voltage at stock speeds. I undervolt to drop heat output and power consumption. Wondering how the 8350 handles it.

I keep putting that on my list of things to test and always run out of time. If more people are interested I'll try to work it in future coverage.

interesting that it has higher minimum FPS in many games over the 2500/2600k.

Very nice price for a unlocked chip. The performance improvements seems to meet AMD expectations and what they indicated earlier. 3.5 grading seems a little low, I would have gave it a 4 due to price, performance improvements and easy compatibility. One doesn't have to buy yet another motherboard to get this thing. Could be great for the 4 core and 6 core FX users and a big improvement with cpu power. This is sorta tempting, looks like I will be getting more time to actually use my computers again, so maybe a Christmas gift for me.

Possibly a Black Friday or Christmas buy for me depending on when I snag an Samsung SSD. Thankfully, I have a Microcenter nearby.

Nice review Thanks Jim! I may pick one up down the road, will depend on how much of an improvement it has running FAH over my current 8120. Wondering if Win 8 would offer a small improvement with it

People still fold on CPU's? I thought it was GPU or nothing these days, did it change?

Yeah the new cores offer nice ppd..The Intel cpu's still offer the best performance especially per watt. I fold with both cpu and gpu clients on mine and my daughters comps...for the week I have my brother-in-laws as well trying to duplicate his issues

Full AMD power good enough for 8th on the team
