Summary & Conclusions

The Cooler Master GeminII S524 is a nicely built top down cooler, with great socket compatibility. The included fan is quiet at low speeds and not too intrusive at full speed with good cooling capabilities. The component clearance is high enough for tall memory heatspreaders or VRM/chip coolers fitted to enthusiast components. Sensibly eschewing bright funky colored LEDs the GeminII S524 is conservatively good looking.

The mounting mechanism is solid, ensuring good, secure contact with the processor although the installation steps mean you'll want to take the time to ensure it is correct before you put the mainboard in the case. The included Phillips hex nut driver is a great touch and all the mounting hardware looks like it'll never bend or warp, feeling solid and weighty.

Priced at ~$40 USD the Cooler Master GeminII S524 offers good value for the cooler performance and form factor. The top down cooling design increases mainboard cooling and allows more cooling options for less common case designs. If you need or prefer the non-tower design, the GeminII S524 is a great performing option at a good price. We award 4 1/2 stars!
