The Noctua NH-C14 is a premium cooler for specific applications. The C shape and top down cooling will benefit some applications where the more common tower form factors are not feasible. The dual fan arrangements offer options for high cooling capacity with low noise when coupled with the included low noise adapters, although there ought to be two of each of the fan speed adapters. With only the lower fan installed the heatsink is no taller than a full height add-in board, enabling use in some low profile and small form factor cases.

The build quality is excellent, and the thought put into the design and engineering is quite evidently of high standards. The form factor allows for cooling of other components surrounding the CPU socket, such as VRMs, chokes and memory, if the board design permits. The SecurFirm2 mounting system is ingenious and offers all the flexibility and ease you could want for a large, heavy heatsink.

Noctua NH-C14

The NH-C14 had enough cooling capacity for our overclocked Core i7 2600K, even at 5GHz. A Phenom II X6 at 4Ghz and 1.475v is a lot of heat to dissipate and in our HAF X case the Noctua was just about capable of that, too. The only sticking point is the price, which at ~$90USD is the same as the NH-D14, which has higher cooling capabilities but also a larger form factor. This cooler is aimed for ultimate cooling power in a restrictor form factor If a six year warranty, near silent cooler in low profile a form factor is what you need, then this cooler will be worth the money. The included fan adapters, high performance thermal paste and clever utility phillips head driver tool add the ease of use and value of the package. We award the Noctua NH-C14 4 1/2 stars.
