There are a couple of inequities in the comparison, as you can see - the Intel CPUs are more expensive and the mainboard prices vary quite a lot. The X58 system is equipped with triple channel RAM, but only 6GB instead of the 8GB the other systems enjoy. However, this should offer a good comparison of common enthusiast systems. To keep GPU bottlenecks to a minimum we decided to use the World's Fastest Graphics Card, the AMD Radeon HD 6990 - in OC BIOS mode, for maximum performance.

Our test system has a cost of of around $1800USD when equipped with FX-8150. This puts it in the 2% market we saw previously, although a more common GPU choice such as a single HD 6970 would drop the price into the common enthusiast spending bracket.
