Test Setup

During the benchmarks, all the in-game settings were set to their highest possible unless I note otherwise. The ATI Direct3D and OpenGL control panels had the "Texture Preferences" and "Mipmap Detail Level" set to "High Quality". Truform and VSync were both forced off.

In the Advanced Smartgart tab (Start -> Run -> smartgart), Read and Write in both the PCI and AGP sections were shown as On, and in the basic Smartgart tab "Current AGP Speed" was "8x", and "Fast Write" status was On.

These settings applied to both the 9800 and the 9700 Pro which I used as a comparison point.

No components in the test system were overclocked.

Sound was enabled for all benchmarks and set to the highest available quality.
