If you could change one thing about your favorite console(s)

what would it be?

i was just wondering if all you could change one thing about your FAVORITE (emphasis on favorite) consoles, what it'd be.

for me, my only gripe with my XB is that is only has 64Mb of ram, it's because of that they had to shrink the serious sam levels  128MB or 256 would have been a little nicer . i didn't have any problem witht the original controller, but now i find myself happier then ever to ahve a controller S.. and i dont' know why, it seems to work better in about 80% of games that i've tried with it.

GBA, of course, the backlighting, i love my little purple pocket buddy, but in low light.. (i didn't get the afterburner lights because i don't have the $$ to replace him if i killed him)

PS2: cd tray...feels just really cheap, 4 controller ports
GCN: minor changes to the controller, larger capacity mem cards like the ps2 & xbox.
Xbx: like the s controller bundled with it, make it smaller, more games like I'm finding on the cube & ps2 (just been seriously disillusioned with the games on the xbox as of late), Somebody other then M$ to make it.
GBA: backlighting and 2 more face buttons.
PC: (though not a console) videocards that are viable for a longer period of time then 6 months.

What i would like to see in the next consoles is multiple dvd drives instead of just having space for one disk. Instead of taking game out putting new game in they should make them have a tray that can hold like 3 discs so you just turn console on and select what game you want. Games should then have an option to return to the startup screen and switch to another game if and when you want to :)

you mean like a cd changer? that'd be really somthing.. room for 500 discs (sony makes sterio's like that after all) would be pretty neat. or do you mean seaperate drives alltogether?

PS2

Move the power switch to the front.
add an internal memory to save games, etc. so you don't have to buy an external mem card to save games.
Longer controller cords
The ability to play Kodak photo CD's

Most of my gripes have excessories that I can get to overcome them except the kodak photo cd one. that would love that feature, especially a feature that would let me use a sony memory stick in the playstation and let you view photos from a sony digital camera on your playstation 2. maybe they will do that with the playstation3.

For the gamecube to have larger memory crads, buts thats the only gripe and for the flipper to have hydravision for two telly screens! so you could have wicked four player!

I never use the power switch on my PS2, I just keep it on standby mode. The only times I turn off my PS2 is when I had to move it. I have been doing that since the US launch.

Xbox:

1. A Vga port(so u can hook up any monitor and xbox like winxp, would reconize it.)

2.Key/Mouse usb ports.

3.A 50 yearly fee for XboxLive.

Pc:

1. No more Agp bus....We need Pci-express vid cards!!!

2.No more Cpu bounded games, everthin should be handled by the Graphics card.

3.DDR2 ram,please.

can't my cat likes to play with the light and hop on it when it's on. when I play I have to put something in front of it so the cat dosn't jump on it while I am playing. also I have to keep the spray bottle handy just in case he starts biteing the controller cord. brings a new challenge to games... jumb, triangle square spray cat, jump, etc..

hehe, you know if the xbox had vga support and a usb keyboard/mouse it would be ****ing sweet:drool:

For the Super Gamecube or whatever, I'd like to see:

Some sort of mass storage WITHOUT moving parts, say 500mb of built in flash memory.

Backwards compatibility with GC.

Make the GOD double sided, and maybe slightly larger so you get around 4-5GB out of the deal.

A quad channel version of 1T-SRAM so that it pushes around 40GB/sec or more. 16mb On VPU cache that spits out around a terrabyte per second.

Around 512mb/RAM.

A 3Ghz dual core IBM Power4 processor or an equivalent.

Make that damn Z button more comfortable and mirror it so there's one on each side.

At least 5 or 6 megapixel fillrate.

Support for all HDTV modes.

Built in ethernet.

No no no... that would be too much like the PS2. :D

I don't have any signifigant gripes about the Xbox, except the rearrangement of the face buttons on the controller S. That was retarded. I actually prefer the original, but how on earth do you play doa3 with the white and black buttons BELOW the others. In party mode you're tagging when you try to do a throw...

Otherwise, I would like DVD playing to work without an add-on, and I wouldn't mind a RAM boost.

As far as the others, I won't really comment, except the GCN needs a larger controller, and the PS2 needs four ports and a complete hardware makeover.

Haha... well... it's a wish list.

Still, in 5 years something like that may be feasible, since it'll undoubtedly be much, much cheaper than it is now.

I don't actually want a hard drive in a console that I own. Just one more thing that can break.

well considering all teh other parts he listed, it would be one damn expensive console anyway.

you're right though, the z trigger doesn't make any sense.
