Alundra for Playstation

I started trying to play this game and wanted to stop after the first 10 minutes. The text controls drive me nuts. I hate having to hold down square to speed up the text. The default text speed is too slow and I don't have patience for it. The basic walking and jumping controls feel clumsy as well.

Its a shame because by all accounts, the story is very very good. However, I just immediately hated this game. Anyone else felt like this?

Alundra is a tough game to love. You can see its strong points but it really drags often. I never completed it because I got glitched and lost a quest needed item.

I never got passed the opening event trigger searching, dialogue hostage crisis slog either.

Beat it on the Playstation when it came out. I have it from the PS Store too on my PS3.

One of my favorite games ever and the one of the most difficult I have beaten.

Once it gets going the puzzles can get pretty difficult as it takes timing and memorization.

A small example begins at about 2 minutes but he skips most of it and says why.

Still have that and iirc also Part 2. Yes, it is/was hard to get into, but once you played a bit it was really cool and tough, to say at least. Some hefty puzzles. I don't think any our recent "hold my hand"-generation would be able to enjoy that kind of game.

I actually miss these kind of games. Good Story, characters and tough puzzles. On the other hand, to be honest, i really don't have that much spare time nowadays anymore.

I would love to own this game for my PlayStation collection, and have been looking for it.

Pretty hard to come across for cheap nowadays though. It regularly sells between $70-$90 for a complete copy. Definitely a sought after game.

I'd give you my copy but I don't have one anymore. :)

Got rid of most PS1 games a long time ago.

Xenogears
Final Fantasy VII
Kings Field
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete
etc...

I swear I had Chrono Cross or Trigger still kicking around somewhere...

Thanks for the gesture, Fuku2. No worries though. Most people got rid of their retro stuff years ago.

If you want to rebuy Chrono Cross and Trigger, luckily those ones are easy to find and relatively cheap still.
