April Bragging Thread

Bleeder is about to pass me, only took him what 3 short months? Nice output man!

Void4ever

:D yep... just did! I started this December 13th so just under 4 months. Just lucky that I have work machine to play with at the moment.

You still have far WU's and that's what really counts. :fold:

Thanks for the kudos dude!

Yeah you really crank 'em out. :) What kind of work machine is it?

Yeah you really crank 'em out. :) What kind of work machine is it?

At work I have 4 machines running right now (I did have 8 at one point).

I've got at work (all Windows server 2008/Windows 7 boxes):
Dual socket Xeon 5530 doing SMP 16 (not bigadv)that's giving about 20K-30K PPD. This one was running "bigadv" but I stopped that a couple of days ago because my WU's per day was dropping. It was giving about 40K-45K PPD.

Dual sockat Xeon 5660 doing SMP 24 (bigadv) that's giving about 80k-90k PPD. This one was added about 2 weeks ago. This one was running VMware but that sucked large (about 20K PPD with 2 guest sessions) so I converted it to Windows Server 2008 (Didn't have the options to go Linux :( ).

Also have 2 Lenovo S20's (Xeon 5xxx somethings) that I get about 25k-30k PPD combined. These also have Quadro 4000 graphic card that just will not running F@H properly. :(

I wish that I had the option to run Linux on these boxes because Windows only can get bigadv 6900 WU's right now while there is still 6900 WU's available. These don't give a great about of PPD like the other bigadv WU's. I would have liked to see what the dual 5660 could have turned in when running Linux.

At Home I have (all Windows 7 boxes):
Intel 2600K (@4.5Ghz) - PPD=~23K
Intel 2500 (stock) - PPD=~12K
AMD Phenom II 975 (@4Ghz)- PPD=~2300 - This one also has to deal with the AMD HD 5770 graphics card that is taking about 25% of the CPU cycles.
AMD HD5770 - PPD=~6000

So now that I've open my kimono how about you other folders? What do you guys and gals run? Maybe we can get some good dialogue going that could improve our teams PPD?

Like - I'm thinking about dropping Linux on my Phenom 975 box (with the HD5770) to see if the PPD gets better. Anyone with any thoughts on this?

I see that we, unlike a lot of other teams, have a very dedicated Folding team here at Rage3D. We don't really have 1 or 2 folders carrying the team. It would be great if we could find simple ways to help current folders add some extra PPD. :) Any thoughts from the experts on ways to get more bang out of our current rigs?

Maybe I should have started a new thread with my last bit of verbal (typed) diarrhea.

Hi Bleeder, as to the graphic Quadro 4000. Why not work properly?
What version of F@H use?
What driver are you?
What exact model of Quadro 4000 is?
Could you put the ID of the graphics card for inclusion in GPU.txt? Example:
0x10de:0x004d:::NV40GL [Quadro FX 4000]
0x10de:0x004e:::NV40GL [Quadro FX 4000]

Could you get the system log F@H?

The GPU client, you should always run as a service please do not use the F@H client on Windows.

GPU.txt F@H supported in version 7.1.52:

https://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-relea ... c / GPUs.txt

The Xeon 5530 and 5660 would be more productive in Linux, there is only bigadv projects in Linux, for now.

The AMD Phenom II 975 uses smp2 and leaves a processor for AMD HD 5770.
Do not use SMP3, can create problems.

Sorry for my English.

A greeting.

Hey Rulotrapax... I don't want to hijack this thread with my Quadro 4000 problems but it just will not work properly. It doesn't matter what client I run ( from 6.x to 7.x or what nVidia drivers I use, the "15" WU's fail every time.

The only way that I can make them work is to power off the workstation, wait for a bit then power it back on. It may fold 1 or 2 WU's then it starts failing again.

The card looks to be manufactured by nVidia as there are no other markings on it. It must be either a BIOS or card problem causing the issue. I've upgraded the BIOS of the workstation and there doesn't look to be any firmware for the card so at this point I think it's a lost cause. It's too bad because the few WU's it's done have been great for estimated PPD.

:( oh well.

Thank you for you for your help though! :)

While very unlikely it could be the slot it's plugged into as well. Have you tried it on another workstation just for kicks?

hum... interesting idea. Even though I have 2 S20's running with these cards and both are failing I didn't think of either putting the card into a different slot and also trying a different machine altogether.

:) thanks for the idea Void... I'll give that a try this week.

And Ryoko, our resident ninja :chuks: folder, just passed 40,000,000!

Nice points dude! :fold:

thank you sir! :D

these 1012x units are kicking my ass though... lost nearly 20k ppd due to them. getting them out of the way helps everyone in the long run, so i don't mind being saddled with them.

also about to hit 7k work units! :)

Hi Bleeder.

Could you try to set the gpu slot with "client-type" "advanced"?
Expert mode, Configure, Slots, select GPU, Edit, Add, Name: client-type , Value: advanced, OK, Save.

Do you have your power-savings setting cofigured to "turn off the monitor" after some time? Disable it.

This configuration is valid with Quadro 4000, f@h version 7.1.52, driver version 296.35, without overclocking.

Could you get the system log F@H?
Could you put the log when it fails?

A greeting.

7 MILLION!!!!

7 MILLION!!!!

Just broke the 7 million points mark today! :D

Too bad my new boss forbids me from using FAH for computer burn-in

congrats rtangwai! sucks about the boss though. there is no better burn in software to use. just tell him to ask HP Cloud Services if he needs further proof.

also congrats to jmscott42, not only for breaking back into the 6 digit production range, but for taking the #2 spot on the team!

just took down one of the most influential folders in rage3d history :D

[edit]

he was also one of the most talked about folders in the project's history...

My first 4 million point month! :D

And most of the points have come from my home machines this month (about 70% ish) for the first time.
