Are LG LCD’s any good?

I’m thinking about putting my tax refund towards a new monitor to replace my poor old 17” Sony Trinitron.

I was looking at this one in particular LG L2000C 20.1" LCD
It runs about $600
I was wondering if that is a good price for a monitor with these specs.
Also I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with LG monitors.

On a side note, I’m rather irritated that nobody sells a good 21” aperture grill CRT monitor anymore.

Widescreen = teh suck

How many games and apps support widescreen resolutions? Unless you're in need of a secondary monitor for content-viewing only, 4:3/5:4 is the way to go.

Almost all of the new ones and hundreds of old ones. Maybe you should take a look at www.widescreengamingforum.com before you open... ;)

Also it seems that manufacturers are heading the widescreen way as there have been poping up many new widescreen models (also see laptops). It would be complete waste of money not to buy a widescreen now. Monitor is atleast 3 year investment. For me the cycle is 5 years.

Edit: WTF you mentioned APPS :s If the app is ran on desktop and you have set your desktop to the native resolution of your monitor then it will run just fine. Not mention the possibilities widescreen gives your desktop for exsample editing documents, video etc. side by side and much more.

my friends, my girl, and I have no problems with applications on our widescreen laptop panels.

I’m not really considering a wide screen monitor. I would want to get one that supported 1920 x 1200 if I did get a wide screen. Any good monitor that supports that resolution would be out of my price range.
