I am new to this and would appreciate help. If I'm in wrong forum I apologize.

I've had the 8500 dv for two years but only used it as graphic card. I'm now trying to capture video and use the other features. No trouble getting tv and video but when i try personal video recorder it shuts down and I have to restart computer.

When I start windows I get a message that ATI cannot load resources and am asked to reinstall MMC.

I would appreciate help or source where I can go. Trying to phone ATI is next to impossible.

Thank you

The ATI 8500DV is not a AIW 128 based board. Wrong forum, this should be moved to multimedia area. The ATI 8500DV is not that old.

Now on to your question.
Many motherboards have a problem with the PCI bridge device on the ATI 8500DV board. You may want to disable the 1394 via the jumpers on the board which will disable the bridge. If this works then you have found the issue. Yes this issue will effect capture.

Also what version of MMC are you using? What OS? What Motherboard?

My wife had a hard disk crash and so I just put a new Seagate 160GB drive in her DFI AK75-EC Athlon Socket-A 1.1Ghz WinXP PRO system. Fresh install with Cat 5.4 and MMC 9.06.1. Works great, no problems at all. Actually the ATI 8500DV has been stable in three systems so far here.

1.) Was in my DFI AK74-EC Athlon Socket-A 1Ghz system (WindowsXP PRO)
2.) Was in my ASUS K8V Athlon-64 3200+ system (WindowsXP PRO)
3.) Gave to my wife. DFI AK75-EC Athlon Socket-A 1.1Ghz (WindowsXP PRO)

Solid as a rock in all three systems above. But I did have the 1394 disabled since I had problems with the DFI AK74-EC board, never re-enabled it.
