Best way to get a computer built for you with retail parts.

I built my own computer but for some people who have just basic computer skills and dont want OEM cards then all you have to do is when you order from gateway/dell whoever just ask for the main parts you want cpu/cdrom/ram and when it gets to video and sound dont even ask for a sound card and get the cheapest video card there it saves a bundle because usualy those companies charge more for the best parts they offer. then go buy the retail sound/video cards you want and you can get what you want without having to be a PC guru.

One thing to beware of, though, is that if you ask for the CHEAPEST video card, you'll get an i810 chipset motherboard with NO AGP SLOT!

Ask for a BX motherboard and a cheap video card, or an i815 motherboard.

Of course, if you get an Athlon/Duron/Thunderbird system, this is a null point, as there are currently no integrated platforms for these CPU's. :)
