Bloodborne - PS4 Exclusive from Hidetaka Miyazaki

I don't think they'd have much problem moving units at this stage of the current-gen. PS4 has over 7 million consoles out there now. Plus this game alone will probably sell a million or so more consoles just by itself.

Xbone is doomed, tbh.

Gonna have 7 million and one soon :D I obviously won't by the console based on rumors, but this game could potentially be the deciding factor for me. Can't wait to see more, hard-vetted info on it.

Hope that they will go back to using Sony's tech for this one. The speedrun video just posted in the DaS2 thread shows that their own is hilariously broken.

And "hilariously broken" is being very kind. :)

Boredom is the only thing that draws me back to that game for a few minutes here and there. I'm trying to keep my hopes in check for this one....

They never stopped using sony's tech, Dark Souls 2 is still using the phyre engine.

And honestly, plenty of games have glitches like this that speedrunners take advantage of, so I would not hold it against the game/engine itself, they're simply bugs that were not important to fix(or never discovered) since 99.9% of the playerbase will never discover them.

Oh. They managed to break it pretty spectacularity then, considering that those glitches weren't used (not available?) in DaS. Initially there was the Gwyn glitch, but it was patched soon. Patching those in DaS2 may be quite a lot harder.

That's dark. It's nice to see them doing something new and not another name+number game.

And Bam.

That's my buy a PS4 game. That hit ALL the right notes with me. Dark, disturbing and the potential for much despair.

What does that say about me as a person? Ought to have that checked out one day....:bleh:

I am going out on a limb and saying this will be released Spring of next year. That will be when I buy a PS4.

Looks like there's a few other PS4 games I'll be getting now too, which is nice. Last of Us remaster, and Uncharted 4.

Eh, its perfectly normal for humans to be interested in the dark and disturbing. When you start acting on it though, that's when you need to get checked out.;)

Well, it's kind of the norm for Brockton :D

I have to echo what lviz said too. It's probably safe to assume we'll see more than a couple of passing similarities between this and the souls series, but it being a departure from the Souls series alone is refreshing.

- Spring 2015 release window
- They started work on this right after finishing Artorias of the Abyss, targeting Sony's new hardware
- The world and story is completely new, and the setting takes full advantage of the PS4's capabilities
- They're targeting 30fps at 1080p
- The keywords for the game is "blood" and "beast"
- There will be melee and long range weapons (guns) this time
- Character customization is confirmed
- There will be no map display in the game
- He wants combat to not just focus on action but also the strategic element
- The combat in the game is designed to feel like a life or death struggle
- There will be online elements of some sort, and it will involve players "discovering" together

Looking forward to how this is implemented. I like the thought of having to strategize on how best to take down groups of well placed enemies.

Well, duh :D

Need more info here - doesn't sound like anything invasion based, but a statement worded like that could be taken to mean simple co-op as well, which would fit perfectly with 1vlarge_groups...

Love how they say the game's setting takes full advantage of the PS4's capabilities, then the next point mentions how they're targeting 30fps at 1080p.

I am sorry but hearing about games running at 30fps on the new consoles just completely pisses me off.

We'll hear more soon. Sony is supposedly holding an hour meeting regarding bloodborne.

I used to think that as well, then I played watchdogs on my pc.....Now Im like holy smokes this ps4 does a pretty good job.

Are you comparing Watch Dogs on consoles at lower than full HD res, to on your PC at 1440p?

Even still, that is kind of irrelevant compared to this game though. Bloodborne is a PS4 exclusive. No need to try to achieve parity across multiple platforms.

This simply comes down to asshat developers that believe 30fps is perfectly fine for gaming.

I was a little surprised by that too, but like we determined in another thread I don't think I'm quite as sensitive to it as you are.

Now if I start seeing hitching and stuttering, well, whole different ballgame right there.
