CPU WU work server down?

My CPU isn't folding now with the folding slots status of "ready" and the work queue status of "download". Is there an outage ATM? If not, what should I do to get it folding again?

Using webcontrol it shows (on mine) CPU:6 and it's working fine. I had 5 go down a few weeks ago and had to switch.

Using FAHcontrol and checking the log you see this> 20:45:52:WU03:FS00:Requesting new work unit for slot 00: RUNNING cpu:6 from '''''

Looks like 11 and it comes up with work server and collection server IPs of 0.0.0.0

How can I change that?

The large primes have been down since the project was finished iirc I was told not to use 7, 11,13 ...try 3 or 6 as those seem to be working for me.

configure, slots edit then change the # and save....see if it starts up

I don't see an option here to change server, only threads to use.

Pause the system so it stops trying to get 11. Try multiples of 2 or 3, I just saw 8 being recommended....that will change the server from what I've seen. There are a few posts about this on the fah support forum. I'll try and link the best one...

That was it, thank you. I feel like that's probably a missed opportunity given that my chip has twice as many threads as the max. allowed for this particular project, seems there ought to be another way...

Many projects are sensitive to the number of cores. Many of us simply split up our available cores into multiple slots, so we can still use all of them (minus those needed for GPU folding).

Glad to help, it's been awhile since I've done any troubleshooting :D

Virtual beer to you good sir. Or real if you're ever in my neck of the woods (Twin Cities).

I wasn't reserving threads for GPU folding before, should've thought of that. We'll see what the combined PPD is now.

Sorry, yeah, core = thread. By default the CPU client sets up with one slot, with n-1 threads assigned. Depending on your CPU, that can cause issues with your GPU slot, which still requires CPU resources. As I mentioned in the other thread, my personal experiences with nVidia GPUs has been rather good with only one free CPU thread, but AMD GPUs not so much. Not familiar with the 1070 though. Just experiment with a couple of CPU slots, and if your GPU performance drops, then lower your thread count on one or both slots. For 6 core (12 threads), you may experiment with something like 8+2, leaving two threads to the GPU and anything else which may need CPU resources (I'm not sure what priority the CPU code for the GPU runs, but CPU folding is still bottom priority anyways).

Certain projects simply will not run with > 6 threads enabled (apparently regardless of logical processor count). Had to back it down to 6 for this reason. So far so good, 660k PPD right now, and that's with an "unknown" GPU :D

That's good to know! I used to run a 8 thread slot at the end of last year on one of my systems but switched over to NaCL due to the unreliability of power at the physical location of this system. Ie, last time I was actually onsite, it was off due to a power outage, and the next day after leaving, it was back off due to a power outage  Hopefully within the next two weeks I can boot it back up again :p

If I put that one back to the regular client, I'll split up into two slots of 4 threads each.
