My son installed EA's Shogun TotalWar on his laptop, but to get the game to run, I had to disable DirectX/Direct3D. Why? This is such a hassle. When playing a DVD, I have to turn it back on.

I'm not familiar with the game. is it a 3d accelerated game? what version of directx are you using? if you are not using directx7 please upgrade to it. you can find it at www.microsoft.com also, on the main page, you can find rageltmans unoffical drivers. i have found them to work very well with most games. they make fix your problem. remember though, they are not supported by ati.
