Hey guys,
yes I know this is quite an old Laptop, but I am the kind of guy who cannot really let go, as long as the babe is all cool and this Inspiron is doing better than my Toshiba Tecra and my Acer Travelmate...

Anyhow, the reason I am posting is that I've been running WINXP SP2 for quite some time now, the screen resolution is 800x600 but I can vaguely remember that when I was running Win98 on this Laptop, I was able to go beyond that!!!

I am using the internal WinXP driver (5.1.2001.0) on the machine (ATI RAGE MOBILITY P/M AGP 2X), but how can it be that I cannot go larger?

I would appreciate if someone could shed some light into this, as I am not to Windows savvy to understand the deep meanings within ;)

All I really want is to go one tiny bit larger to 1024x780.

Greetz and thanx in advance for your thoughts on this matter...

Try changing the driver for the LCD.
If that does not work, update your video card drivers.

Hi Big Z, thank you for your reply. After days without a response to my post, I started digging a little deeper and I came up with plenty of working drivers, that would boost the resolution to a max of 1600x1200.

I learned a lot about ATI and their cooperation with leading Manufacturers such as COMPAQ, DELL, etc. and most importantly I also ended up on your website :D

I like your work, you have done a great job on your site. But if I may add, I do have to admit that most of your explanations in those areas, where it started getting interesting seemed a little superficial and even quite sketchy on the combination drivers that you have coded yourself. If you could revise this section to enforce a little more confidence in the concept, I bet people would realise the true potential of your work.

Once more, thank you for answering my question and for your excellent website.

p.s.: I had another question on my mind, but before asking I need to play around with the drivers I have first :p
