DoorDash prices through the roof?

The last few times I've gone to order door dash and I've cancelled because the prices are double, if not triple what it'd cost to just go myself. Anyone else run into this lately? I can't see their model sustaining, the cost to convivence just isn't there anymore, and I have dash pass aswell.

I never use these services because its always easier and cheaper for me to just drive and pick it up myself.

Do you live in a really rural area many miles from the restaurants you're ordering from?

Inflation is causing prices to skyrocket for just about everything. Probably will get worse before it gets better.

This is pretty much how Doordash has always been, isn't it? I used Doordash some last year, but it was always a huge upcharge versus just going and picking up my food. Gotta pay for convenience.

I suppose its worth it if you live far away from a place and don't have a mode of transportation.

But if you have a car just go get it.

DoorDash can make sense if you have a premium Chase card (Free shipping + reduced fees).
UberEat + Amex Platinum is great as the free delivery and $15 monthly allowance help tremendously.

The whole concept pre-assumes that the customers are from a much higher economic class than the drivers. It might make sense for someone making $200k+ to hire a minimum-wage driver to pick up their dinner or dry-cleaning or whatever. But it would never make sense for a minimum-wage driver to pay another minimum-wage driver to deliver food for them. I certainly wouldn't drive to deliver your dinner for any kind of price you'd be willing to pay.

Prices of everything are going way up, and will continue. You can't print trillions and trillions of dollars during a pandemic and then be surprised when you get rapid inflation.

Uber eats bitches.
I don't know but here in SA uber eats was good.. but holy f moly. They are retarted. A couple of time the gf and I would order from UE. It looks like they pick up more than 1 order... and yea. No. Food is cold. I got a voucher from a co worker on Friday, but honestly , I was about to uninstall Uber Eats.

And back on topic. We got Mr Delivery. Good .. but pricey too.

UberEats here is one of the few services we have available and it's awful. 3/10 meals I order have missing or wrong items. I've also received multiple opened items that I suspect the driver took out from. Their customer support is useless in addressing these issues so I just stopped using the app. Cornershop had WAY higher quality (and it still kind of does) but it dropped a bit once Uber bought them. Unfortunately Cornershop doesn't ship premade food unless a market sells it.

Yeah Mom makes a point to order Uber Eats once a month to use up that $15. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't use Uber Eats at all. I wish they'd courtesy ring the doorbell when leaving the food at the door. We spaced out tracking the order and it got sorta cold on the porch. No I'm not going to buy a homekit enabled camera when I already got one (though yes we were watching tv and an automatic homekit switch to the camera would've been nice).

Does UE have the option to include special instructions? Most drivers wont knock or ring doorbells because many customers get angry about that (have dogs that bark wildly or have sleeping babies/kids). I got several low ratings for that so I stopped doing it unless they ask.

It does! I found it (or maybe there was an UI change that made it more apparent) after reading this. Thanks!

You can leave special instructions. On support most of it is automated so you may get screwed up once in a while. :bleh:
