Frame Rate Fluctuation

Hey guys,

I've been wondering if the results of the Q3 tests are showing the effects of the frame rate fluctuation. I mean, we all know that in a game, the Radeon handles itself like the solid champ that it is, but when it comes to timedemo's in often used benchmarking apps, is that taken into consideration?

I heard someone hint that their ATI video card's framerate was more stable than the GeForce2 they used to have. That was here, in an older thread ("bye GeForce2, hello ATI!" or something like that.)

------------------
Hmm...I never thought I'd choose to buy an ATI card!

I just one day decided, what's my fav rez? Umm...okay, what's my fav color depth? Umm...duh. How much do I have to spend? Umm...damn. What's out there that does a good job? ATI? Umm...okay.

I'm not sure what that person was talking about, but my framerates are all over the place during a timedemo of demo 1. I see them jump anywhere from 30fps to 100fps. At 1024x768, 32bit color and textures, texture slider all the way up, I get 78fps.

However while I'm playing, it stays at a constant 85fps. It hardly ever drops below that. Weird stuff. Im happy with Q3 performance...if I could just get it to run COUNTERSTRIKE!!!
